Huh ? What an interesting concept. They have the entire healthy population of the Bahamas in totalitarian quarantine lockdown to stop the spread but sick people wandering into the hospital can expose 200 health care workers. Good luck Bahamas. These doctors in charge are going to have us locked down till the end of days

Apart from the fact that the government has left us all with nothing to do but sit around and judge them - I am still waiting for somebody. Government. Career Doctor, Nurse? Somebody tell me what is the point of all of us locking down and containing the spread of this virus beyond flattening the curve which we have already done. Our healthcare system is not overwhelmed. Based on the news today the health care system is generating more sick people than the people out there ignoring social distancing. There is no historical or scientific evidence that says this total population quarantine works. It has never been tried before. Will the virus magically go away if we all stick out heads in the sand and ignore it ?? I don't think so ! So we are all sitting at home watching our life savings get frittered away whilst these guys look at charts and make up new rules every day. Two weeks ago the WHO was adamant that masks didn't work and now it is a God Damn law in the Bahamas that you have to wear one. No sir. No way on earth am I going to sit around and blindly trust that these guys truly know what they are doing.

PS - I am fit and healthy and am fully aware that the chances of me dying from Covid19 are less than 0.1% so I would much rather take my chances back at work than waiting for the economy to completely collapse and loose my job, my home, my future. Screw that !

I thought Covid19 had an RNA nucleus instead of DNA and that RNA mutates much easier than DNA ?

The government is in a terrible position but everyone needs to understand that we simply cannot afford to be idle indefinitely (and hope that something will magically change) If the USA opens up their economy with the virus still floating around there, us quarantining ourselves is completely pointless because sooner or later we will have to open our borders up to them. In the meantime. The Bahamas is massively in debt. The credit rating agencies are breathing down our necks. We can not feed ourselves without imports. We need foreign income to pay for those imports. It is complicated and nobody's fault in particular. We all wanted to be independent and 50 years later we have not provided a safety net for tens of thousands of construction workers and now times are tough, we as a nation need to buckle up and let them go back to work to help restore our national income as well as their own. If you do not understand this, you are either paralyzed with fear and/or living in complete denial. Time for those people to move aside and let some heroes step forward.

We don't need to blame anyone. We don't need the government to save face. We need to open our eyes to the emerging facts, open the economy back up and get on with our lives and learn from the stupendous mistakes that were made.

So we are now in this unfortunate situation where the old models won't work because none of them were ever developed for mass quarantine. The US-CDC and Imperial British models are changing daily and we have a couple of local GP's trying to make sense of the hysteria going on everywhere else, with a whole other set of socio/economic circumstances. So guess what the easy thing to do is. Sit back and wait and hope.....................whilst our economic future slips away

'Models' are completely dependant on the input. Total population 'lockdown' quarantine has never been tried before so they are literally making things up as they go. There is no historic, medical or scientific data for a global lockdown. That is the problem. There is loads of data for every other respiratory disease that has ever hit the human race but we as a collective have decided to try something completely different this time. The 'total community quarantine" is a political experiment that was introduced by the communist Chinese government and sold to the world by social media.

The facts are now coming out of Italy that the vast majority of people who died were vulnerable people quarantined within the same house as healthy family members that were exposed to the virus before or during the lockdown. Because it is pretty much impossible to stop the spread of respiratory disease within a family the lockdown of large families within one household is the worst possible thing to do if you don't know who has it or not (instead of simply isolating the vulnerable) Dont get me wrong. This is a horrible disease but anyone who thinks the lockdown is some kind of tried and tested scientific method for defeating a new strain of flu is severely misguided
