The reality is that we would host the headquarters of every multinational corporation in the world, so long as they were confident that they were not going to get bullied around by racist politicians and corrupt union leaders day in and day out from the minute they landed. Franky needs to remind himself that a lot of international companies DID have their headquarters here before him and his thugs drove them out, as if they have nowhere else to go...
What the h.. is wrong with this new government. They came in on global warming and eco this and alternative that and all they talking about is a new oil refinery and raping the ocean some more
This place has no hope so long as the commercial fishing industry is competing with the tourism industry for the same dwindling natural resources. You got foreigners coming here and spending thousands of dollars a day, day in day out, to go and catch a wahoo or a grouper. Versus wholesale obliterating the biodiversity for a couple dollars a pound to a bunch of international middlemen. That is who really pushes for the exploitation of our fisheries. International brokers that want to pay Bahamian Fisherman $3 a pound and sell to the Japanese for $25 a pound. That is who lobbies our government. And don't forget the last time we got persuaded to let in long lining. Tens of thousands of sharks killed for their fins and a national outrage.
Sad thing is that these corrupt, treasonous bottom feeding PLP slugs stole so so such much of the peoples money and mismanaged the countries economy so so badly that the FNM is left with few liberties as to who or what kind of foreign investment it can turn away. What they forget is that the people voted the PLP out by the biggest landslide in history so to be calling for the peoples choice to resign ? Why you dont go to church Mr Cooper and repent and ask for forgiveness and then come back to parliament with some decent, positive contributions and work with the FNM to do something good for the country instead of being a stupid A all of your life
Why the .... should we introduce new taxes because some beaurocrat think-tank in Europe thinks we should. You can guarantee that if the Bahamas introduces a nominal 5% tax on corporate profits, the OECD will come blacklisting us again next year claiming that 5% isn't high enough. Then when we comply and raise ours, they will raise their taxes on their own people and then they will blacklist us again until we have to raise ours again.
I get that they needed to shore up the secret funding of terrorists and curb the laundering of drug money but now they are saying us not having taxes is 'harmful'. Harmful to what ? Harmful to the europeans having 8 weeks paid vacation a year ? Harmful to those governments bailing out big banks after they fleeced the entire world of everyone's life savings? Harmful to people in Europe paying less for a Banana than we do in the islands where they are grown ?
I'll tell you what will be harmful. The FNM adding a new tax and miss-managing the funds. Them getting voted out and the PLP coming in and adding new taxes and miss-managing the funds. Pretty soon then we can all move to Europe and apply for benefits for all the taxes we helped them raise, because there won't be anything at all going on around here.
I met the American guy from SRT Solutions on a flight to Governors. It was a classic crooked deal. Amercian specialist hired to do the job with some PLP crony as the middleman doubling the cost to us taxpayers. It all fell apart when Glen Lowe decided he could make even more money by switching the epoxy paint for the storage tanks and the cheaper one had dangerous toxins in it. This American guy was trying to stop it from happening so Mr Lowe (and whoever else was involved in the background) had immigration throw the guy out of the country shortly after I met him. Then they didn't have anyone to finish the job! You seriously couldn't make this stuff up
Maybe one day the ruling elite in this country will recognize what a benefit the original Hawksbill Creek agreement was for the whole Bahamas. Bend or break basically meant 'if we can't have it, no one can have it'. The fastest growing, most successful city in the world (in the 60's) turned to mush by a few greedy ignorant lawyers from Nassau that couldn't stand the fact that it had nothing to do with them.
Sure would give BAMSI an economically viable opportunity instead of pretending we are going to feed this country by hacking away at rocky, infertile soil, one sorry field at a time
