Unlike governments private businesses don't have the luxury of taxing people so they can keep others to the payroll. Doc will do a better service to his country at this moment of he does something about the large number of civil servants who are currently "working from home".
Running low on money already. No surprises there. A population that depends so much in tourism, and expects the government to solve all their problems. A large number of civil servants that at this moment supposedly is " working from home" whatever that means. The shutdown of the economy is not a long or even medium term solution. By the time any other industries develop,IF they develop,it will be too late. Everyday that passes the government is running out of choices,so something is gotta give.
Are these packing houses owned or controlled by the government? If yes then don't expect any results. Every time the government got involved the result was a big mess. Remember Hatchet Bay? Even today the waste continues and no I am not talking about BAMSI
Typical PLP mentality. Borrow and waste. I suppose he forgot to mention that all the borrowing will be paid by the taxpayers. Maybe he can also propose some new projects funded by the government that will result in some lucrative contracts for "certain" people. Also do not forget to hire even more people to the public service so generations of Bahamians remain in debt. And last but not least make some " anti foreign" statements once in a while.
All of a sudden we have a "mask industry". In the next few months and years people around the world will keep buying Bahamian masks. Add to that the "whistle industry" which is our weapon against crime and the economic future of the Bahamas looks bright indeed. Who needs tourists
Why people spent their money in fast food in such uncertain times is beyond me. They must either believe that NIB payments will last forever,or they are government employees " working from home".
Sunday they announced a schedule for grocery stores for the whole week. Monday they give 2 days notice for everything to shut down. Maybe tomorrow or by next Monday they will say something different. Do you expect people not to panic? Really sir do you know what are you doing?
Some people visit 3-4 different food stores everyday along with their entire families. The more these fools keep doing this the more people will get sick and the more the curfew will be extended. Some even claim that they don't have to work anymore because NIB will take care of them. Seriously, are there so many idiots in this country?
The problem is that many Bahamians now go to the food store because they want an excuse to go out. Not only this creates unnecessary long lines but creates more health risks that will cause the curfew to extend even more. It looks that the new daily routine is to go out with your kids buy them junk food and then hang out with them in the food store for as long as you can. We have so many fools in this country it is not funny anymore
Not every Bahamian lives from tourism. Yes everyone will be affected one way or the other. Yes unfortunately some people do not realise how serious that can be. The doctors give their medical opinion as they should. However the government has to be very carefull how it handles the situation because other issues may arise
