How about stopping the foreign trips, stop the "double dipping" and stop hiring consultants? And finally how about calling an election? That should be an easy decision to make.
How reassuring must be for Bahamians to have a leader that is not aware of many things that go on in this country. Talking about living in a different world. But then again who cares, right? New taxes are about to be imposed to the Bahamian people to pay for those trips and other expenses. So pay up and "get a life".
I don't think they are interested in cleaning any mess. The whole idea is about money and finding jobs for the "boys". Look how many "consultants" were hired. As the the Miller BEC standoff it is all part of the"show".
There you have it. Because the government is afraid to stand up to unions, prepare for VAT and more taxes in the future. Because more taxes will increase the cost of living, unions will demand more raises to cope with it. Most likely the government will give in again. After all ,all they care about is votes.
Translation: We don't know much about VAT. In fact,we don't know much about running a country, which is why we have foreigners write our laws. However, even when foreigners write our laws we have a serious problem enforcing them. For example,we can't even collect property taxes. So, let's keep all existing taxes in addition to VAT because we don't know if it will work out.
A true professional would have verified his story before broadcasting it. Unfortunately in this country we have too many "professionals" "experts" and "advisors". That is why we are in such a mess.
Bahamians get the government they deserve. Things are going downhill, and all they are being offered is another festival. But then again,if any political candidate were to talk about hard work for sure he would not be elected. People would vote for someone who offers free rum, chicken in the bag and a phone card..
When it's time to renew contracts, there is no money. Yet,when they hire "consultants" foreign and domestic or when they fly around the world first class, money is not an issue.
