Hitting, Beating, or spanking children is despicable and I despise all those who either engage or support this form of child abuse. Any adult convicted of doing this to a child should be publicly spanked in Rawson Square. and the spanking shown on the nightly news report. The abusers would then get an idea of what it feels like to be a child beaten in school or home.
I expect that Mr. Darville is genuinely looking to improve the neighbourhood in which he lives and has no ambitions to use a reputation as a community activist as a stepping stone for self advancement into the political arena however I cannot see a single pump truck making any appreciable difference to the flooding issues that have plagued the area since it was first developed on woefully low-lying land. I suppose it could be used to pump some water out of some flooded houses after the water levels have receded, but this assumes that the truck and pumps are properly stored and maintained.
Religion is the opiate of the people. Religious organizations in this country are completely unregulated. Anyone can start a church and begin soliciting weekly tithes. It is time that this large sector of our economy was not only regulated but also taxed. Surely the Christian Council will agree that it is only fair to give Caesar his renderings, Yes?
Bootlegging in the Bahamas, as I understand it, consisted of buying liquor in Nassau and then taking it up to "Rum Row" outside the 12 mile territorial waters of the US where it was sold to American citizens like Kennedy, who then broke US laws by smuggling that liquor into their country. . There was nothing illegal in what the Bahamian rum runners did.
I wonder if Mr. Bodie could share his thoughts on why The Good Lord Jesus Christ decided to save Sir Arthur but decided not to save the Hon. Chuck Virgil?
It is time to start the conversation about moving the Bahamas to someplace that has more elevation above sea level. Could we all contribute and purchase a couple of those Rocky Mountains from the State of Colorado? Surely they do need all of them...…..
The proposal that retired governor generals should get 24hr security is just plain silly. These people already receive large pensions that the tax payers are stuck with. Let them pay for their own security just like the rest of us would have to do if we wanted it. Being a governor general is aa position that requires no skill or academic qualification and you only have to work a few hours each week. It is a political appointment given by the PM for political service rendered. The sooner it is abolished the better as the position serves no purpose and achieves absolutely nothing now and never has in the past.
