Did Ms. Hanna Martin actually accomplish anything at all during her tenure as a minister? I seem to remember a lot of stuff about "swift justice" which turned out to be just slow more of the same incredibly slow justice.
Sir Godfrey Kelly has always had a very dry wit and a great sense of humour. His remark should be taken bearing those two things in mind. It is then not entitlement but humour at work. This honour is so much more deserved than so many previously handed out to others less deserving/ As for the continuing practice of giving Queen's honours to sundry churchmen, that is just laughable and don't they teach us to look forward to heavenly rewards and not earthly ones?
Have any police officers actually died (fallen) in the line of duty due to their service as opposed to dying from natural causes while being a member of the force? There is a profound difference in my opinion.
The actions of these uniformed police officers disgust me. A police state does not arise overnight, it creeps up incrementally as the state security forces abrogate more and more power to them selves at the expense of the judicial system. This is a prime example of that. The widely reported extra judicial killings in Jamaica by "rogue" police officers is a next step that the citizens of this country must be aware of and resist strongly. The nose of the camel in under the flap of the tent already.
Hey ThisIsSour, with reference to Sir Godfrey's achievements, he was the first ever Minister of Education when the UDP administration decided that education was so important that it became a Cabinet Post from being merely a department. Betty K, Kelly's Lumber, Kelly's home Store are just some of the businesses employing many Bahamians for decades that he is involved with. Over 40 years of supporting Rev. Prince Hepburn's Star of the Bahamas Charity Guide, Junior sailing programs, and much more that most Bahamians have never, and probably never will, hear about.
Sir Godfrey is well deserving of this honour. Just ask for how many years he has funded the Cat Island regatta, as just one small example. I have always enjoyed his dry wit and great sense of humour. Lesser minds will probably take his remarks about expecting this honour sooner literally.
I wonder if this bishop likes to eat chocolate or candy. Does he realise how many thousands of people die each year from diabetes complications, a disease most often caused by an excessive consumption of the pure white and deadly, sugar? We must ban sugar imports not marijuana growing. Very few, if any at all, people die from ingesting this plant.

The Bahamian national honours are a third world political joke. Most honourable, really? Who came up with that title for recipients?
