What Mr. Evans fails to mention is that Oral Roberts was the first tele-evangelist who effectively sold the prosperity doctrine; send me some of your money because I am representing the Almighty and you will be blessed with a ten fold return. This line has been effectively used my numerous churchmen including scores in the Bahamas. This is how Neil Ellis got to be able to buy his own private jet. Myles Munroe also became rich and famous through propagating this philosophy.
Chipman is just another elected official who has never understood how the Westminster system of democracy works. He has chosen the path of a loser, the fnm is well rid of him.
umm Talrusket you really think that the "founding Anglican church back in 1867 in England,"? Well ok, just about as accurate as many of your other comments over the years on this site. Sigh....
A column with more than the usual amount of ignorance. Alicia has obviously never tried to get a contract as a white skinned Bahamian from a black majority rule government. Reverse racism is real and experienced everyday by white Bahamians having to deal with black Bahamians in positions of petty bureaucratic power. The struggle is real. Just look at the crown land grants given out over the past 38 years and you will notice something striking.
And the economic death spiral of the country continues to tighten. This is what 40 years of entitlement mentality leads to; I am entitled to freedom from Property Tax, I am entitled to a new free car every 3 years. I am entitled. "Socialism works well until you run out of people to borrow money from to fund it" PM Margaret Thatcher. We have run out of people to borrow money from after 46 years of government borrowing and fiscal irresponsibility. Congratulations lousy Finance Ministers, Greedy union Leaders, and a D- electorate who got exactly the government that they deserved.
What a great column by Mr. Young this week. Sugar is bad for your health, should the government ban candy? Meat eating increases your risk of heart trouble, should the government ban it? Exercise is healthy, should the government form an exercise police to make sure everyone walks at least 5 miles each day?
A minimum wage mandated by law distorts the working of the Invisible Hand postulated by Adam Smith. This slight increase will only have a small effect as most business entities pay far more than the minimum anyway due o supply and demand of the productive part of the labour force. The only results will be very slightly higher prices for all goods and services to cover this extra expense and the greatly challenged individuals seeking a job will find it a little harder to get a position in a business willing to hire him or her.
This seems like a good idea. Is it $500 per month all year round or just during the semesters? Also if a student/tenant breaks up a room then who will be responsible for the damage? The government have an extended history of paying off its obligations very late. How long will the homeowners have to wait for their recompense?
There is no doubt that Christie will go down in history as the most inept prime minister with the most corruption smeared cabinet ever. Birdiebrain Strachan posts some really weird ideas.
