Agreed, Mr. Moree is an inspired choice who will significantly raise the quality of an otherwise mediocre judiciary. This also speaks well of Mr. Moree as he does not need this position for financial or prestige reasons. He will be most deserving of a knighthood upon his retirement, just sorry for the company he will be in, particularly those knighthoods that past PM Tony Blair's government was purported to have sold.

This is not good news. UB would be better off if Mr. Bethel accepted his retirement gracefully. I suspect that he enjoys teaching and interacting with the young students as it gives him a sense of purpose and respect of others in his life which is not available so easily elsewhere.

I do so like a person who can tell a good joke with a straight face, but isn't this joke getting a little bit worn out from being told so often?

The Employment Act favours employees at the expense of Employers and Businesses. The magistrates at the Labour Board will also give generous settlements to terminated employees which create hardship for already beleaguered Bahamian businesses. The longer that a business keeps an employee on the patrol, the more expensive it becomes to terminate that employee. Business owners are not stupid and will react to this oppressive legislation. Expect to see many more employees hired for fixed periods of time and not rehired at the expiry of their contract, expect to see more businesses subcontracting work to individuals to legally avoid the onerous employment obligations, and expect to see all the marginal workers not pulling their weight to be terminated, This will probably not happen in our bloated, complacent and overpaid uncivil service.

Hey John, are you incapable of making truthful comments? All casinos pay government taxes whether foreign owned or not. Or are supposed to anyway, I seem to remember that the shuffling buffoon prime minister's friend and client in the past administration closed shop and left without paying his due taxes. Atlantis pays gaming taxes, property taxes, and nib taxes.

The Detention Centre is a blight on our country. It makes me feel so much shame coupled with disgust for the abusive guards.

Hey Easternhate, Feel better now that you got that off your chest. How dare these so-called white people treat their dogs well. A dog's loyalty, devotion to, and trust in it's carer has to be experienced. Most people will let you down and betray you but a dog never will. Most people will never be grateful if you help them but a dog always will. Dogs rule.

There is something very disturbing about a member of the State's security forces killing innocent
animals that pose no threat. The officer who carried out this heinous action should be subjected to a thorough psychiatric evaluation to determine if he, or she, is a fit and proper person to be loose on our streets while armed with a deadly weapon.
