A part of being a modern medical doctor is to match the symptoms of the patient with the drug that the pharmaceutical companies have designed to treat that set of symptoms. For each drug prescription that they write the get a kick-back from the company through the drug store. This is how doctors get to be so rich in private practice. Tens of thousands of patients die every year from overprescribed totally legal drugs. No one has ever died from smoking weed. Now you understand why most doctors do not want it de-criminalized? It would cut into their lucrative drug trade masquerading as a medical practice.
Jonh, uou display an arrogant ignorance of boats. Bilge pumps have a separate float valve switch. Any set of wires to the bilge pump or the switch can chafe and spark if not properly insulated and wrapped with anti-chaffing. Many boats are built with a double hull, fuel leaking into the double hull would not necessarily be smelt on deck. I have been on a boat that caught fire from shorted electrical wires and it happens very fast with no warning, this boat that I was on was diesel powered and we put the fire out quickly with the fire extinguishers mounted in the right places. Sabotage is a laughable idea or so I hope. What sick mind would think it was a good idea to burn a boat load of tourists to death. I know that some Bahamians seem to hate people of other races but this would surely be a step too far?
A part of the problem is that our laws side heavily with the tenant. If you rent to a tenant who is trashing your rental unit and not paying rent you will have to jump through legal loops for months to get them out. I could invest in buying rental property tomorrow, there are some attractive deals on the real estate market right now, but I will not for this reason. I am not alone in my thinking like this and consequently there is not enough inventory and competition amongst landlords and this results in high rents and scarce properties available. To a lessor extent the labour laws protecting employees are too onerous to the employer who will only take someone the payroll if absolutely necessary. One business I know of had recently to pay $22,000.oo to terminated employee who had walked off the job and had arrived to work on time about ten times only over ten years employment. Will any other employer take on this person whilst knowing the history, I certainly would not.
As long as politician people continue to deify him while vilifying his ubp predecessors I will continue to present a contrasting view in the interests of balance. And I wonder just which of the historical facts that I presented do you take issue with? Has not LOP been credited with introducing nib? Did it not pay pensions to those who had not contributed to the fund? Did not these pension recipients feel grateful and give their political loyalty to him and his party for the rest of their lives? Has not nib been a mismanaged financial disaster from it's inception? The truth is that the actions of that first prime minister continue to be felt in the modern Bahamas and nib going broke at current levels of contributions is just one example. The present reality is due to prior actions. You stop teaching un formed children's minds that pingling was a hero who "fought" and won independence and emancipation for women, etc.. and I will happily shut up with my historical corrections.
