Can I answer the question please? The answer is; "no." Now what happen to the report on the possible damage done to the seabed by the cruise ships anchored off the Berry's during Covid time? We got a promising gubmint, aye?
It depends how you define "succeed"? If 600 citizens are being monitored, and if, this is a wild guess, it costs $600 per month per citizen then some might consider that the monitoring company's owner would be succeeding very well.
So will the Bahamian sloops racing in the Family Islands regattas now have to have insurance coverage? Will the Ministry who organizes these regattas be responsible for checking that each boat is insured? Think BAMSI.
Having a government proposal "gazetteered" is just about 300 year old technology. Why is this country still using such an outmoded vehicle? Oh, yes, it is a way of keeping the print media beholden to the government in power. Just ask the US Perry Family who used to own one of the "Daily's". in in the 1970's and 1980's.
Hi avidspreader,: You have posted that Sweden has a high crime rate, yes? Sweden murder rate per 100,00 population )(2022) is reported as 1. The Bahamas murder rate per 100,000 population (2022) about 32. I cannot remember the exact figure. Would you like to defend or repeat you assertion about Sweden's high rate of crime? No? I thought not.
Apart from the questionable weather and having Putin as a neighbor, Sweden is a great country. Most everyone gets on well together and the citizens receive all needed education and health care, paid for by the high rate of income tax. The political leaders are confident of their own abilities and do not have an inferiority complex. Thus on trips out of the country all the cabinet ministers travel, not in first class, but in regular economy class like you or I would do. To get to parliament members and minister use public transport, just like regular people. The world can learn from Sweden's example.
"Caesar's wife but not only be above reproach but also must be seen to be above reproach," There is wisdom in these ancient sayings. There are most probably some Bahamians that still believe the utterances of political appointees. Sad.....
My apologies, Amone2. The completed sentence could have read; "hard to the o take as seriously as if it had been suggested by, for instance, President Joe Biden". Is the Bahamas current with our UN payments?
This is sour, just so, the Christie promise of free electricity was simply the best. The most ridiculous unbelievable political promise recorded in the long history of ridiculous promises by Bahamian politicians wanting to be elected to positions of power.
Of course the UN needs reform but such talk is like leaves blowing in the wind. It is instructive to know how and why this organization came about; it was years and tears of great compromise by the politicians of the more powerful countries after millions of their soldiers and civilians had been slaughtered in the two World Wars. The formation of the UN was paid for by the sacrifice of those major countries. The big countries might find this recommendation from the elected leader of a a country so small that only something a bit over 100,000 make up the electoral role.
