Retired cronies reappointed;
Leave existing staff most disappointed.
So few civil servants can work well;
That the civil service numbers swell;
Twenty percent of workers employed by government,
Hired only for their voting covenant.
To pay for it all, more business tax,
While the State Employed continue lax,
Three or more to do the work of one,
In this Bahamas that’s how things are done.
Sad.

Was this aircraft really over 50 years old as comments above suggest? So which Bahamian State Employed Worker authorized this foolishness? We have about 0,000 of them to decide which is responsible. Of course, that will never happen....

It is good that this project was awarded to an organization that has the experience and capital to get it done properly. Whether you agree with the development of Colonial Beach or disagree, it would have been a disaster to give it to a loud mouth with no experience and no verified access to capital.

LOL. I'm only here for the comments.

Atlantis and Bahmar are two of the largest employers in the country. The tens of thousands of visitors that come to stay in these hotels contribute a huge amount of not just taxes but foreign reserve capital. Both hotels have been offering musical entertainers from the world stage so that their guests and Bahamian residents alike can enjoy world class acts from such as Rod Stewart.
The Union and the government workers are actively trying to stop this. What a shame. What an unwarranted interference in how privately owned business enterprise seek to remain profitable enough to stay open and keep employing so many workers. Just sad.

Hah hah hah... Really?

This could be a really bad idea for the FNM. In order to survive and thrive any business, including power companies, need to make a profit so that they invest in new technology and retain good employees. When political decisions starve business enterprises of the profit they need then you end up with a corporation like BEC. Badly undercapitalized and sadly managed providing sub-par service to it's customers. Is this really what the FNM want for the residents of Grand Bahama?
