The PI lighthouse should be entrusted to a non profit charity to restore and maintain it like has happened with the Elbow Cay Lighthouse at Hope Town. It should not go to any one individual who just wants to make money from it.
Now there you have a coincidence; Mr. Jones chooses PM Brave Phil Davis as his publication's Man of the year and then PM Phil Davis chooses Mr. Jones to this prestigious well paid political appointed.
It defies commonsense that investors would purchase 30 year Bahamas government bonds payable in Bahamian dollars. Quicker to just go buy a few hundred thousand Florida Lottery tickets.
This Royal visit is pretty much irrelevant to most every ordinary citizen. A little entertainment value perhaps. Thank goodness we have a decent Governor General again.
This PLP administration presently in power is just repeating a tactic taken from the corruption smeared Pindling government of the 1980's; blame the greedy merchants and pretend that the politicians are trying to rein in their greedy ways. It was total rubbish then and it is total rubbish now. Adam Smith's invisible hand dictates prices not our third world politicians.
Price control was brought in by the UBP government with good intentions. However it is is useless in keeping the overall price of groceries lower than the market dictates. If a wholesaler or grocery store can make less than it needs on rice or grits then they will have to make more on Mayonnaise and fresh vegetables.
LostManStanding. I agree with you about the extremely high murder and rape count. Was not Solomon lauded, was not a first born son to be killed as a divine sacrifice, and that was held up to be a wonderful test of faith. Were not adulterers to be stoned to death, and witches too? if Cain did not have children with his sister then where did his baby momma come from? I remember the song Vietnam sung by jimmy Cliff in 1968 or 69 being banned from the airwaves because it protested the abhorrent and unjustified war in Indo-China. I suspect you would have supported that ban if you were living in those days. So no, lets not start banning music and burning books. That is what fascists and religious zealots do.
Mr. Evans wants to ban a musical artist because the lyrics in his work concern sexual promiscuity; I wonder if the good gentleman has ever read the Old Testament and whether he thinks that it too should be banned? Adultery, incest, fornication, infanticide, sodomy, etc., etc..,
