This is a very professionally written letter, I believe they are known as puff pieces and are written to change for the better the public perception of the person paying the piper. The letter writer seems to totally ignore the fact that the numbers business was illegal for decades and only became a legal enterprise after Perry Christie took it upon himself to ignore the referendum on legalizing gambling that voted overwhelmingly to not make gambling legal. Perry also happily broke his own freely given promise that he would honour the results of that referendum and so sealed his place history for all time. Not a very good place either. Perhaps I am wrong in my understanding but I do not think you can amass a large fortune selling cigars on Bay Street.

It is very simple; the government either approve the price increases in these Breadbasket items or they do not. If they do not then the wholesalers cannot afford to import them, the retailers cannot afford to sell them at a loss and the items will disappear off of the grocery store shelves.

Will harsher penalties for human trafficking make any appreciable difference? In the last 50 years how many people have been brought before the courts and charged. Is it maybe two people? Anyone got a better memory than I do?

It is very good that this important topic has been raised by this letter writer and I concur completely with her expressed views. Gentlemen's hats must always be removed inside. I must further mention that in a church last Sunday I noticed that there were several ladies attending the worship service who not only failed to wear gloves but also wore a dress that was so short that their ankles were on display for all to see. This sort of outrageous behavior must stop. If we continue to let our standards of common decency in our appearance to drop then who knows where it will end. Next thing you know judges and lawyers will be seen in court devoid of wigs and robes. I can only shudder at such loose behavior.

China has a population of 1.4 billion people so it is no surprise to find that they produce the most pollution of any country. If this was measured per capita then The Bahamas with our diesel fueled power generation and well over 100,000 vehicles on the road, would be very near to the top of the list as most polluting I suspect.

thank you, messenger, and this is how you sometimes earn a knighthood from a plp government.

In case anyone missed it, the Bahamas has one of the highest per capita police involved killings of civilians in the world. . It would have been reassuring to those who do not trust the Bahamian police if the hands of the man who was killed had been bagged immediately and then tested for gun shot residue as would have routinely been done in a developed country.

What this article fails to make clear is whether the living wage calculated by this UB study is based on per employee or per household. There may be some disappointment coming for some workers.
