Can somebody PLEASE explain to me how Sandy Sands is back in this project??? He is a waste of time and has no skills, that title he has is BS and is a token hire to fill senior Bahamian positions as a matter of course. Please trust me when I tell you I've worked with this man on Baha Mar and he does nothing but deflect responsibility and offers no redeeming value to the hotel and casino business. He is an enept fool who just serves as a middle man.

Agreed 100% with previous comment on mailing the keys and or not being able to live in a house when default on a mortgage. On that same point and on the front end, when you want to buy a house you have to prove to the sellers and the bank that you have the available funds and line of credit to back the offer. "Show them money" is a very fair request and a letter to the bank, the govt and open to the public simply saying their offer will be better than any others is NOT how it works again, there needs to be proof of funds.

Ok, yet again......... "After much hard work, the project is back on track" this man is insane, it is NOT back in track, a very minimal amount of activity has started. "Back in track" would allegedly have it open in 1-2 months which is what they said it was just before bankruptcy as it was suppose to be 98% done. And yet again he pontificates about two of his theee objectives being met and the one remaing one is to be bought by a world class hotel and casino operater LIAR!!!!!!! He announced it was a done deal, and just couldn't announce it yet lie again, he can't help himself and is worse than Trump because he actually is in power.

So, thank Gid somebody finally mentioned the value of the expats. If you don't get them back (and they are all bitter both individually and the corporate entities) there will not be a chance in hell to open the property.

I've seen various versions of this new Sarkis offer and my question is if the amount of the Chinese company is "Undisclosed" how is Sarkis making an offer in excess of it?

islandlad says...

When it's quoted above that everybody due monies from the employee side will be contacted to explain the payout process, how is this communication take place for the foreigners/expats so they too are paid what is owed?

islandlad says...

Quick comment. So much reference as to who owes whom. Bottom line, Sarkis and any of his affiliates no longer own BML, the Chinese bank does as of when BML went into receivership and the bank took back the asset so the contract above is due money by the bank, not Sarkis and his business related affiliates. so china pay up from your CCA affiliate in Bahamas, North America/ USA affiliate , or the Chinese bank, you all choose.

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Fred Smith points and concerns about foreign workers that were employed directly by BML exactly like the local employees were and hence should not be treated any differently than local employees in regards to payouts for back pay. As a matter of fact, expats weren't paid beyond the time they were physically on property unlike the Bahamian employees who were paid beyond their physical time and work on property. No expat has received any backpay, bonus' severance nor refund for their NIB contributions. These thoughts are also inline with the concept of how will foreign contracts be paid on Monies owed vs Bahamian contractors apparently in the que first.

Quick comment that i'd like some feedback on. While I truly am sorry for so many people to have lost their jobs........A) this happens in business all the time. B) Most all employees at Baha Mar not only got paid up to the date they were let go, but beyond that time for being at home and not working. I believe it was October, and this was allegedly done out of monies disputed by the Govt owed to Baha Mar for the roads project that the Govt. withheld so this money was owed back to BML and not directly to employees. C) The main question I'd like feedback on, why are employees who didn't work and performed no duties, Beyond the being let off date, getting monies paid out first when actual contractors who did work and provided services and products which they have floated the bill on and is indeed a pure loss to their company, getting paid after the employees?

This is a blanket announcement and for the first time that I can remember, it isn't specifically isolating out "Bahamian" employees rather just past employees. Is this to mean that even foreigners/expats are eligible as well and can show up for their payment. Many indeed may not have current email address from two years ago and hence if the afore mentioned solution to that is just show up, does this mean their checks will be ready??
