Know a lady in Marathon who just got a job as a janitress from Jerome Fitzgerald. He came to her house campaigning and she complained that she needed a job as she hadn't been working for over two years. Two days later she was employed as a janitress at one of the schools. This after asking the old PLP MP for help for the past 4 1/2 years! And guess what? She doesn't even think the PLP deserves another term in office but now she feels obligated to vote for Fitzgerald he gave her "a job". It's ludicrous. But you know this is Politics 101. Keep um broke, uneducated, and ignorant. Exploitation at its finest and a guaranteed win!

This article grieves me because it's so poignant with truth. Unfortunately these poor people being kept down by the politicians who will sell their birthright for a bowl of porridge will never read this, much less understand it. Pity!

I agree. Outside of the pay, it's the kickbacks and under the table deals that they clamour for. Do you know what it is to have access to tax payers' funds with NO accountability? And we wonder why it's taking dynamite (a.k.a. a cutazz at the polls) to get Perry and his minions out?

They are not foolish. They know that Carnival is a sore point for Bahamians because of the very obvious waste of taxpayers dollars on an event that will probably never turn a profit. They also know that it will used in the opposition election rallies against them. How is it that you have hurting Bahamians and a lackluster economy but you can find time and money to have a party in streets?

I kid you not, Marathon is the one seat I HAVE to watch in the upcoming elections. The only thing that would give me more joy than seeing Jerome Fitzgerald voted out is being a resident myself to help them do it.
