This virus is different from other viruses that cause colds and flus because it can be spread without a person having any symptoms. In fact, many people many have no fevers at all, some people simply feel tired. This is complicated by the fact that this virus is present DURING a flu season, making it more difficult to determine if those who have symptoms have it because of usual viruses or COVID 19
It is also believed the virus can be spread by contact since it has been found to live up to 9 days on surfaces, hence the suggestion of frequent hand washing and cleaning surfaces with a suitable disinfectant.
At the end of the day eat properly (which is something most Bahamians do not do), avoid public places if possible, wash hands often after contact with others, don't go to visit elderly relatives if you don't feel well and avoid touching the face or eyes with unwashed hands! Pray and hope for the best!
... I do believe Trump used the cages built by his predecessor and the immigration successes exceed simply stopping people at the border! ! The unemployment decrease is a direct result of removing Obama era regulations. If Obama could take credit for one thing it is giving Trump an opportunity to become a two term president!
The actions of the government speaks far louder than their empty words! While people are focused on this cruise ship, what about all the spring breakers making their way around Nassau from various parts of the USA? What about flights coming from Florida almost hourly and what about flights coming from Canada, the UK and other parts of Europe? From a purely statistical standpoint, that virus is already here!!
Bahamians have a short memory, but I hope they remember what their government(s) think of them based on their uncaring and shady actions!!
In times of crisis we get to see just how incompetent those paid to protect and serve the public's interest really are! In the end, they get to collect pensions for their 'service' to the country!. Sad!
How does this dimwit think he can predict the extent of the spread of the virus, when one person coughing in a grocery store when it is full could exponentially infect far more than that!
A country cannot continue to have open borders as we do, with areas known to be affected (like the UK, south florida and jamaica) and the population here not be at risk. Sands knows, in all probability that the virus is here. They are testing discriminately to minimize positive results because they are concerned about the economic impact of announcing a positive find, NOT the health of the Bahamian people!
The tests they currently have should be dispersed to public and private medical clinics through Nassau and Grand Bahama so doctors can test those they suspect, but the government won't do that!
@TheMadHatter… elections can be called at the discretion of the prime minister at any time once the Governor General has been advised and Parliament dissolved!
If Minnis could accomplish a fraction of what Trump did regarding immigration, small business growth and actual unemployment, this country would be much better off!
