Why repair clinics that have been flooded? Hurricane season is an ANNUAL event. Seems more sensible to put a much smaller cheaper clinic on a higher elevation of land. Additions to these structures can be made as needed.

Seems like people just want to put their hand in the cookie jar. After all disaster is opportunity!

Three comments:

1) These flights should be taking place daily

2) It must be done in a way that does not give the deportees any room to question the legality of the deportation or to file suits.

3) Bahamasair should stop all commercial flights to Port Au Prince other than to drop off deportees, until Haiti has a formal government.

@ xtreme2x ... a self made person (not affiliated with formerly illegal activities) with commonsense who has a stable family and knows how to get things done while not towing the party line, is a nationalist and is God fearing, is a good place to start

It is time the Bahamian people wise up and stop using their emotions to choose leaders. Just because a person can secure a nomination and eventually become a party leader does not mean that person is qualified to lead this country. We have too many incompetent undisciplined people who lack critical thinking skills offering themselves for higher office in this country.

I hope others soon join him in leaving the party because Minnis may be Prime Minister, but he is certainly NOT a leader!

So people with rental car businesses at the GB airport were able to get many of their vehicles to safety, but the police could not plan that far ahead? Why do we entrust our safety to these people? Sad!!

Mandatory evacuations are only one part of this problem. After people evacuate, where will they go? Government approved shelters failed miserably. First responders have zero disaster management training, so RBDF officers can only hand out bottles of water and not do much more. The focus should be on the colossal failings of NEMA,which had responsibility for training, planning and acquisition of equipment and supplies in the event of the 'big one". They should address governments failure to zone flood prone areas as unfit for construction, and address governments poor response in the aftermath of the storm. Even worse is the government continuing to appoint people with no disaster management experience to lead disaster management organizations and efforts. Non enforcement of building codes and a lethargic post hurricane response by the government may have been responsible for the majority of the deaths caused during this hurricane.
We have idiots who cannot think strategically or problem solve leading us, that is the biggest problem! What bill will they propose to solve that?
