Its not that the gov't NEEDs to borrow as much as it is the gov't WANTS to borrow. How much has government collected from VAT this year by the way and how have those funds been spent??
If the government was serious about stemming the tide of immigration they would have spent 2 million to buy to used helicopters to aid in hurricane recovery and to protect our southern borders. They would have invested in drones to monitor our southern passage. They would have invested in technology to fingerprint these immigrants and they would have changed laws to insure those who enter illegally could never have residency, work permits and everything else. They have not so I get the message! Instead they spend $5 million on CCTV cameras, $6 million on temporary shelters and$ 9.6 million on a bridge in Andros! They show where their priorities are by how they spend!
I understood his premise to be that when someone steps into a humanitarian disaster as Samaritans Purse did, for our benefit, it may be unwise to cast aspersions on the leader of that organization, and I agree with him. Personally, I couldn't blame them if they opted not to help us out again if we may need them. Considering hurricane season is an annual event, and we may find ourselves needing their help again, some wisdom and self restraint might have been a better move!
Mr Evans, I agree with your premise. Samaritans Purse has, arguably, done far more than the government for Grand Bahamians in the aftermath of Dorian. They never had to commit to coming in the first place.
It seems to me that both governments have a pretty good track record making bad deals for the Bahamian people. We need to bring back firing squads for these greedy traitorous leeches!!
