I am still trying to figure out how the president of UB can make $400,000 per annum, while lecturers have to scrounge and protest for a reasonable wage!
… lived there for almost 20 years. Experienced most of the major hurricanes there. Witnessed firsthand the damage at the old airport. Never said it floods during a "normal rain storm". When people are critically injured after a major hurricane and the Rand is out of service, 48 hrs is too long to wait to have an airport open for emergency flights etc!
*A LOCAL human rights watchdog has warned about large mounds of debris reportedly being “intentionally” set on fire in areas devastated by Hurricane Dorian - warning that if bodies are being burned amid the debris it would be “unforgivable”.*
... and I guess the idea of allowing these carcasses to simply rot, filling the air with the stench of putrefying flesh, while increasing the potential for spreading disease and feeding scavenging dogs and birds is a better option?

1) the Bahamas does not have river dikes (like the Dutch) to prevent flooding,
2) flooding in the Netherlands is NOT caused by storm surge.
