... the government enabled people like Sebas to suck the lifeblood out of poor communities. If Sebas was interested in national service, he would stop taking money from gamblers, teach people the importance of education, not having children before you could afford them, how to save, invest and build financial futures. But no, even though he has enough money and legitimate business interests, he now wants more power. Not for the national interest but for his own, because the only thing that can satisfy him and people like him is " just a little bit more"!
... the last time the Bahamian people voted on something (referendum of gambling) the government did the opposite and instead of nationalizing gambling (which would have been against the will of the people) they decided to allow a few private individuals to reap hundreds of millions of dollars in benefit instead! My level of faith in any government, especially the PLP is less than zero!
... parenting or the lack thereof is at the root of ALL our social ills. People want to freely have sex without understanding the ramifications of their immaturity. It takes time, effort money to raise children right! If any irresponsible slacker could do it, the Bahamas would be a no crime paradise!
... the main problem with healthcare in this country is not based on infrastructure, but the people who work in the system! How will they fix the problem with consultants who spend more time in their private offices than they do in the hospital or doctors who set a quota of the amount of patients they will see daily or the lack of empathy nurses show to patients who need their help! Many deaths that occur in PMH might be avoidable if staff cared a little bit about human life! How will the government fix that?
... if there is a law to be amended it should be the one that allows a few people control of gambling in the country. It should be nationalized and managed by a non-Bahamian entity with experience doing the same.
"*But I can say, I welcome his willingness to come forward to help and build this country.*”
Undermining the work ethic, creating a generation of gambling addicts, siphoning off the resources from "over the hill" creating more poverty and hardship for poor Bahamians is not nation building. Of course I could be wrong!
... now sure what we have too celebrate unless the rate at which our moral, social, spiritual, economic and patriotic decline has taken place is a good thing! And to think, we can't blame the "white" man for it!
