... politics was supposed to be a form of national service, but it has devolved into a grandiose form of self service. We need term limits, with healthcare only while in office and no pensions for government ministers after their obligations end! The same ole people take turns every 5 years to suckle on the teat of the public treasury and the simpleminded keep voting for them!
... Minnis should never talk about healthcare, his incompetence was responsible for many deaths during a dengue outbreak when he was Minister of Health years ago and again during COVID! Minnis is into power, not public service. I wish he would just go away!
... people want things without understanding the responsibility that goes with it. The poor want to drive a BMW, but complain about the maintenance. People want a house but don't want to maintain their property, they want children and have no concept of what it takes to raise a responsible child with a good moral and work ethic. The seem to think it happens without effort if you just feed and clothe them. Raising children is hard and it it something God intended to be done by a responsible and capable **man and woman** in a loving environment! It is not possible to have a society of predominantly uneducated people, flippantly having children without a moral compass and not have these ongoing tragedies. You reap what you sow! That's true for individuals and for nations!
"Mr Davis also questioned the distribution of wealth in The Bahamas, urging citizens to ask, “Who truly benefits from the wealth of this nation?”
It takes money to make money and it takes money to win in politics. Davis knows that who really benefits are those who grease the pockets of politicians like himself. That is why in spite of a referendum against legalizing gambling, Davis's own party ignored the will of the Bahamian people and allowed a few to bleed the wealth of over the hill with get rich quick schemes. So the average Bahamian still doesn't understand that money is a tool to create wealth, not something you simply use to consume!
"To educate a man in the mind but not in morals, is to educate a menace to society." - Theodore Roosevelt
Bahamians have more of everything than they have ever had in their lives before, except morality and that is the root of most of our societal problems! Will we change course? I doubt it!
... 75% of children in the Bahamas are born into single parent homes. The vast majority of men shirk their responsibilities in taking care of their children. Why should paternity leave be given? We like to copycat other countries while we are third world in our thinking and behavior!!
