... how about a push for contraception, reducing the number of single parent home or getting a education before having children you can't afford? How about educating Bahamians on the difference between having a job and going to work because they often say one thing when they mean another! Or how about teaching people to have respect for themselves and not sleep around like animals in heat? There are so many more pressing needs than to have taxpayers pay the less productive to say home longer!

The purpose of the penalty is to let people know that breaking the law has consequences and there is nothing wrong with that; it helps to produce a more law-abiding society (and God know that Bahamas needs more of that). The problem is whether or not the penalty is too burdensome. One has to strike a balance by ensuring the fine is not so little that one doesn't care if they break the law or not or so high that it can't be paid. We need more law and order in our country, but it must be impartial!

Agree with Mrs. Garvey about how quickly people spread information via Facebook and other mean of social media. It is wrong and inconsiderate, but I can't help but wonder how many times Mrs. Garvey might have done the same thing, not thinking of how it would affect others as well!

... the Bahamas is democratic in its elections, but socialist in its economic policies. People want free healthcare, free education and social service for every financial shortfall. Government borrows to give handouts; civil servants are paid far more than their productivity deserves and are given election "raises", all while government has to tax the working class to raise revenue to repeat the vicious cycle!! Why, for instance, does a person have to continue to pay taxes on property they have bought? Isn't that a tax for trying to get ahead? This is why the Bahamas has a "brain drain", sensible people don't want to live in a stifling den of corruption with a high cost of living, just to eat conch salad on the weekends!

... nonsense! It was God who implemented the death penalty for certain offences to punish the wrongdoer and to let the community know that certain sins would not be tolerated. It is men who moved away from God's laws, it is not God who has changes His mind about sin! Men choose to discard God's ways when it is not politically correct!
... the management of BFH seems incompetent, they initially bought software they didn't know how to use causing losses of more than a million and now they are still making excuses. Will definitely sell my shares in the new year if I can make at least 5%.
