Taiwans response was probably the best in the world, because they had a plan after SARS, so not everyone was caught with their pants down. But this country ALWAYS has its pants down!

... communities should reject candidates who offer themselves. For instance if Minnis decides to run again, the people in his constituency (PLP's and FNM's) should have peaceful protest marches everyday until he withdraws!

But I agree with your point that we need 3rd and 4th choices.

... please explain. As far as I know we do not have a constitutional separation of "church and state", and one is free to have public discourse on any national matter in any forum!

Sands is just a talking head who is trying to use this situation to score a few political points. In reality this country should have had a pandemic response protocol after the SARS pandemic. If we did they, would not be running around like chickens with their heads cut off wasting time, energy and lives repeating the same mistakes.

So this is a failure at multiple levels from:
1) the Ministry of Health (in particular Public Health) who should have had an implementable pandemic plan with adequate staff to mobilize,
2) using one kind of test only, when there are different kinds of tests that serve different purposes,
3) the competent authority who seems not to have advisors or if he does, should have fired them 5 months ago
4) the population of the Bahamas who has to start requiring more from their elected leaders.

We are to blame for electing incompetent people to lead this country every five years!

... is it possible to take a more mature view and simply ask if what is being said is true or not?

BPL just disconnected over 8,700 customers for non-payment, during a pandemic "endangering the lives" of Bahamians. I didn't hear Mr. Bannister then! When people don't pay their bills, service gets disconnected.

I believe the government owes Consolidated Water Co. many millions of dollars to produce water for Nassau. Lets hope they pay up before the same thing happens here!

There is no surprise that an organization rife with perversion would yield to pressure from the global LGBT community. The Catholic has never been able to take the moral high ground because of its many excesses and abuses! Times and seasons may change, but principles do not.

Many comments and perspectives here confirm why our country is circling the toilet bowl about to disappear into the darkness forever!

... you conflate unrelated issues. The law is the law, it doesn't matter if it is the law of men or God. When a person break the law, there are consequences. When we break moral law, we have moral problems. When we break civil law we have societal problems. If a person does not want a consequence, they should not break the law. Keeping the law is an issue of personal responsibility and nothing more. But if you like our country as it currently is, then people should just keep doing what they are and blame others, simple!

... yet look at how morally bankrupt we are as a people. High rates of single parent homes, crime, increasing levels of sexual perversion and STD's in both youth and adults, skyrocketing drug and alcohol abuse, an intellectually dumbed down society and the list goes on. All because we refuse to be more morally disciplined.
