Tribune Editor: Would you PLEASE print a front-page article once per week (like every Tuesday or something) (but same day each week) saying WHERE these regulations can be found - or stating that they are currently nowhere to be found cause they haven't been made yet.

WHERE is Mr. Rolle getting all of these little trinkets of information he is spouting out. Where is there ANY piece of paper in the Ministry relating to VAT that has the words "owners association" on it? ... that he is referencing?

Businesses need to know whether VAT will be retroactive from Jan 1st (date of licensing fee record requirements for payment of licensing in Jan 2015). Who knows this? If Mr. Rolle says "no", from what does he speak. Will his word be enough when the PM says in August that "You guys better go back through your sales books, because all dem sales gonna be tax come January 2015 for da whole year."

Actually, after consulting with some wise heads - I changed my mind and now support the BEC people. I am willing to pay higher power bills, so that they can double-dip. My bad.

I supposed all Bahamians are concerned about double-dipping and other gross waste at bec - except for those Bahamians who work for BEC and are receiving it.

If they cut the power in Nassau (or anywhere) - the PM should brand them as terrorists (the famous international word now used by many countries) - and ARREST at least 300 of them and put them in a special tent-town holding facility on a cay north of Ragged Island for 6 months, surrounded by defense force boats - and feed them rice and water and vitamins.

This is a pile of foolishness that has been going on for way too long. BEC people have some of the best jobs in the country with good benefits and good salary and mostly nice working conditions. When they get back from the northern cay Ragged Island holding facility they will be very grateful for work for 25% less than what they are getting now and love it.

Nassau only finances out-islands and family islands in the south. Freeport and Abaco have a net output TO Nassau. 92% of Abaco's revenue stays with central government - only receiving 8% back to fund clinics, teachers, govt employees, road/airport maintenance, post office, etc. eight percent !!!!!

Just wanting to point out that it is not only Nassau funding Inagua and Crooked Island, etc.

Freeport used to have a HIGH output to Nassau in funding, but ever since 1992 when the FNM attacked their own "FNM Country" for a solid 10 years straight (and the last fnm term as well) - I suppose Freeport is probably close to 50% now, and in another couple years will be a lot like Crooked Island except with the addition of Social Services soup lines for those starving on the streets.

This is part of the overall plan by the Govt to "do something" about the shanty-town situation. When all of these "horrible foreigners" move out and leave their properties derelict - they will become welcome places to reside for the current and future (would-be) illegal residents of shanty-towns (at least the overflow population thereof). Illegal immigrants (who don't earn enough money (declared) to be liable, and will therefore be exempt from VAT) will be get another bonus from the VAT which is better residences (also free) than the ones they currently live in free.

I'm planning to open an agency in January to assist (for a reasonable fee) Bahamians in obtaining citizenship/papers from one or the other of our poor Caribbean neighbor countries.

Once obtained, a Bahamian will be able to obtain many benefits including the one discussed in the first paragraph. How much should I charge for this service? $500 ? $900 ? $1500 ? Seems it is worth a lot more than that even. But I'll start at $750 for the initial application. Will post the website here when I get it up and running.

Yeah, why don't we file a lawsuit against all foreign investors, and close all the airports to international traffic?

Let's go whole hog, one time - and show how stupid we really are. Just for fun. LOL.

Never a truer word spoken. I believe this is one of the main reasons why discussions in Cabinet are forbidden to be spoken (against the Law) - because only there do you find out (after you've "won power") that you don't have any power at all (except maybe to put up a traffic sign).

Over the past 40 years we have borrowed hundreds of millions of dollars from international agencies to pay for baby food and diapers - and now it is time to pay the piper.

We owe the masters, and are mere slaves pretending to live in an "independent" country. Every July 10th we put on a good show - but the rest of the year we live the true reality.

Bahamians need to get ready to eat more corned beef and grits, johnny-cake, rice, and other cheap sustenance foods. Our costs for food and survival in general will go up. The illegal aliens, however, will not pay a dime more. Their items and services will be exempt from the VAT because "we don't want to hurt the poor".

The philosophy of Bahamian and USA governments is "Don't hurt the poor; Let the poor make more (poor)."

Dr. Minnis's party, while in power, had the ability to change the Constitution, change the rules of the House of Assembly, make the Senate an elected body, change the way that t.v. channel 40 provides information to the public (instead of death, birth, and church notices), and do all sorts of wonderful things to inform and empower the Bahamian people.

They did not do any of the above.

So now it is their turn to suck it up for 5 years, because (thanks to their inaction) that's all an "opposition" party can do.

Why does the attorney mention that his client is pregnant? It goes without saying. She is a Haitian woman, so of course she is pregnant.

I see the "Cubans Left to languish in jail" story - takes you to a sports net webpage. I guess that's a good way to hide a story.
