To this, I will repost the same message I put last week ...

Perhaps Mr. Miller can take a different tack - in light of the threat of power shutdown. He can publicly say that "Obviously the BEC union has the country's head in a noose, and not wanting to see my country hang by the neck - I hereby recognize the lofty authority and superior value of BEC employees and their Union - and therefore now ORDER that BEC employees on sick leave will be paid double-time from BEC and ALSO be allowed to collect their NIB benefit - in effect changing double-dipping to triple-dipping - because if they are allowed to double-dip - then why not triple-dip. This policy will take effect as of Dec 1st."

Maybe that will stir up enough concern from the public to march on Rawson Square. If not, then in January - he should change it to triple-pay + NIB (quadruple-dipping) while on sick leave. Hey why not? Nobody can do anything about it, right? They can be paid 10x their salary while sick and WHO can do anything? Obviously even the PM cannot.

Also you cannot make a contract to do an illegal thing. For example you cannot have a written contract for a captain to run a boat for you to take cocaine to Miami. If he refuses at the last minute, you cannot take him to court. Even if its not your cocaine and you won't be receiving the money directly.

You lookin to get in trouble with the church. They need their seats filled so there can be more money "in the plate". Whether people can feed these children - they don't care. Few children mean fewer in the seats. And more churches being built all the time. On any given day all year round there are no less than 5 churches under construction or extension in Nassau. Need roof shingles for the schools? That ain't their problem.

if they cared you would see - a soup line in a central area of Nassau and two other areas east & west where the poor and destitute can simply line up - give their NIB # (just to prevent double-dipping each day) and get ONE ladle of soup in their bowl (bring your own bowl like Papa Sid say).

The soup and the heating gas for it would be PAID for out of contributions by each member church (20% of what comes in their plate) and also from private donors. I myself would donate every month to such an enterprise to keep children and adults fed who have no other way to eat every day and I'm sure many much richer than me - along with businesses - would donate.

but again - show your NIB number. Don't come off the boat and expect free food.

WIll the church do this????????????????? Of course not. But let a gay cruise ship head toward the Port of Nassau and they will LEAP into ACTION right away. Why???? Cause gays can't have children to fill the seats.

Newly hired govt employes are not allowed to take one week's vacation after six months service, like the law says all employees in the Bahamas can do. They have to work their first year without any vacation.

Gibson would say you are requiring them to work an extra hour for the same pay which in effect lowers their effective per hour rate. That is a breach of "verbally communicated" contract.

I agree with Mr. Myers that "every Bahamian should be responsible" - however - we all know that will not happen.

The POOR will of course be left out, and left to pay zero or next to zero in these new taxes.

We (and the USA and Canada) and most countries ALWAYS let the poor off Scot-Free - not having to pay anything toward the country they are raping (and this includes Bahamian poor too) - and yet some people wonder why we have so many poor. Why are their numbers always increasing????????? Because they get cheap food, cheap and free clothes, and breaks on this and breaks on that. Oh, those poor people - don't tax them. Give them free food and let them multiply like the Bible says to do.

You and I can work like dogs to pay the bills that they create, support their children, pay govt school fees for them, pay govt clinic costs for them, and on and on - and only have one or two children to help us when we get older - but THEY can have 5 or 6 or 7 children to help them.

This road leads to poverty and a 3rd world nation.

No - you are wrong. concernedcitizen's solution has to be applied at the same time as your solution. If you just give people more jobs and better jobs and keep criminals off the street so that commerce can flow - most people will just have more and more children because they can then "afford them" - and then they will be right back to needing more money again - and more classroom seats and more teacher and more ...
