We already have drag queens in Nassau. Does anyone pay attention to the idiocy spewed by the BCC dinosaurs anymore? I am happy that Nassau continues to be visited by cruise ships at all, given the shabby, dilapidated and litter-strewn wreck we call town.
If the grouper populations are healthy (as fishermen claim) then an isolated incident like Sandy wouldn't really be such a setback now, would it? And if grouper populations were healthy they wouldn't cost $90 at the fish market.
Grouper season is to protect grouper spawning aggregations, aka the ONLY source of future grouper. These fishermen should be the ones supporting the season! They are thinking only of fast money now.
Wow, what a terrible idea. Why even have the closed season ( to protect the fishery) if we are just going to ignore it at random? The season is to guard against harvest of spawning aggregations, a.k.a. The only method in the world of generating MORE grouper to sustain these fishermen's families.
Where do these people live? Numbers houses abound (why are we still calling them "web shops"? Why would you name an Internet cafe "Island Luck"? Do you need luck to get online in an establishment dedicated to getting people online?). Gambling is happening flagrantly all around us. Take the proceeds and funnel them into our deplorable educational system.
Can we please stop the practice of renaming things that have perfectly apt names already? Sir Durward Knowles Way - what a mouthful. Same thing with Tonique Williams Darling Highway. How about a sculpted bust to honour Mr. Knowles, or a sailing trophy named in his honour. I am not trying to undermine his achievements but Eastern Road is a historic name, elegant and precise. Let's leave it as such.
