Whoever is in charge of that airport needs firing immediately. That is unforgivable slackness, they obviously have no pride or sense of responsibility,
The government should make a notice for a vendor to run it like a proper airport / business until it is renovated, because we all know it takes approx. 15 years for an airport to get updated here!
I feel so sorry for the forgotten people in the family islands, Long Island is the same.
If more Governmental needs were on-line a lot of these problems would be a non issue.
Also, if all government services were centralized on family islands it wouldn't cost a fortune for the Gov to implement local hubs. Lower staff = less costs.
Why can't a Post Office be a place where you are able to pay all your utilities and government bills, have a health clinic, buy groceries and local produce, collect your pensions, a hub for all the community, much like Post Offices in the more remote places in the UK, you can even buy lottery tickets, gifts, alcohol, dog licence, bakery, literally everything in one place! Have a room where satellite services can be carried out, i.e. a vet three times a month or any other services that aren't needed weekly. The possibilities are endless and it would make the family islands a more desirable place for people who to want to relocate! MP, Mr Picewell Forbes should resign.
Agree, ministry's under her watch lost millions and funds went missing. She is lucky we don't have more 'accountability' in government and forensic accountants in every governmental department.
Well done and Thank You! We need more people to 'step up and Out' like this!
Putting their money where it can help others is good news for a change.
Under an article regarding these contributions on a Facebook page, the general public are sadly responding with resentful bitching? Yet these are the same ungrateful people who cry for the rich to help the poor more, like a bunch of two faced psychotic hypocrites. These contributors don't have to give any donations, they could buy a boat and forget about ‘Over the Hill’ Grow up Bahamas!
My condolences to you, I expect your father would be very proud of you for fighting for what is right. Your legacy will also be something your children can be proud of as well.
Thank you for writing this, I'm in full agreement with all your views on Lighthouse Point, extremely well said!
I just wish more Bahamians would stand up for what they know is right.
