Driving through Nassau when cruise ships are in port and all you see wobbling by on the sidewalks are drunken, overweight, sun-burnt, tattooed bodies that are barely hanging in to their unfortunate spandex attire. These hoards of 'consumers' are only interested in booze, maybe the odd one will buy a small 'Made In China' thing with Bahamas printed somewhere on it, then they'll stagger back on the boat to consume more of the all-included booze and food.
Of course all that booze and food has to go somewhere...It costs the cruise industry a fortune to pay to get rid of this Shit. They are just big Ships-of-Shit, shitting in the sea and spewing toxic fumes in air everywhere they go. Is it worth it? .......Hell NO! The Bahamas should 'value its worth' Much more than this. The Bahamian government reps cannot negotiate, it is a fact, you just have to look at the record and numbers for proof. We need to move as far away from this industry as possible and before its too late, once the environment is spoiled any damage done is irreparable. Wake-UP!
The police are getting better at their own management they have a lot of good people in the top ranks. This is the right thing to do. Retirement is also a safety issue, things change its called progress, plus people need to take vacation (improves productivity) and anyone working for the Government / Bahamian People, should retire when ready for the betterment of the country, its not that we don't respect them, we do and thank them for their service very much! Plus the Top Ranking Police can work as consultants, so anyone near retirement should 'do the right thing' and let younger people take over.
The politicians should do the same and for the same reasons.
Personal feelings and delicate egos get us ALL into a lot of mess. Its business / safety not personal. Looks like the police recognize this, well done to them!
This little jaunt seems to have been a just a big excuse for a photo op / golfing / and an ego stroking mini vacation to Mar-a-largo.
What was the point of the visit? We were lead to believe Caribbean China relations? And what was really discussed? A mish-mash of different subjects and empty rhetoric.
Trump is up to something? Maybe so he can write off his many visits to the southern white house. But still, the Caribbean 'puppets' fell for it. None of them should have gone, it is laughable really, how they all jumped up to go and all at the Same Time!
Minnis Mouse should never have been the leader of anything.
He can't communicate, even to his own so called, press secretary’s, he can't get his message to them even, he needs to be able to speak coherently and he isn't able, and that is why they too are mute. And if that is not enough, just look at his track record, his lack luster leading ‘abilities’ at PMH and the Millions of $$$ that disappeared.
Every gardener knows, when the tree limb is rotten, it needs pruning, so chop it off!
Please, someone rise up, and put us out of our misery, all of these old cronies and buffoons need to go.
Re Sassoon Drive, I am not familiar with that area so I can't comment. however- this reminded me about Cable Beach. There is no doubt that 'Someone' is going to get killed or seriously injured if they don't put speed bumps on Cable Beach, opposite the Sandals entrance. From the Post Office roundabout to the corner where Island Luck now has a building & it needs to have traffic calming strips On BOTH sides of the road. The Zebra crossings are not visible enough at night, and people speed across them with blatant disregard all the time.
So many pedestrians running across that road all over the place (because there is no point waiting at a zebra crossing when noone stops!) and there are two restaurants that have people practically sitting on the curbside. It is terrifying to sit there.
The amount of times I've seen near-misses and people slamming on breaks as people turn into Sandals or stop for staff and visitors going to Sandals and the Waves Hair Salon come to think of it!
Totally agree that banning Export will be a great first step and will help the conch populations grow. Legally exporting 2 million conch a year is without a doubt unsustainable. God only knows how much is exported illegally, probably way more than 2 million.
Sometimes you have to take drastic measures to achieve the greater good, there will be a huge backlash to banning exports from the people who are making a killing harvesting them, but the conch and Bahamians will ultimately benefit, & for decades, not just a few more years. Lets not kill the goose.
Oban in Grand Bahamas is scary, but what is really Terrifying is the LNG dock at Clifton!? Mindbogglingly scary to think a bunch of Bahamian engineers could be in charge of the safety and maintenance, when LNG plants have breaches in first-world countries!? LNG is of one of the most volatile gases on the planet, a ship full of LNG gas could easily blow up the whole island.
People at living at Albany, Lyford Cay and Old Fort have put up with the Bunker C smoke /pollution from Clifton power station for decades, but this is a whole other ballgame when it comes to risk, just google "LNG explosions around the world"
Why can't we follow what has worked in the Cayman Islands? The SUN shines down on us for FREE it is not toxic or explosive.
Disney's 'investment' of $400M is in Themselves, & not the Bahamas, it baffles me that people don't realize this!
All the money will be spent on- the ships jetty/pier & infrastructure, tacky Disney themed bars and restaurants, back-of-house utility buildings, sewerage & power etc. and accommodations for the under 30 year old foreign staff.
Their guests will pay by credit card to entities in the USA, as its all inclusive on most of these ships, No money will touch the Bahamas.
PLUS, We already know all this! We have a long history of other Cruise Sip abortions of land in the Bahamas. we see that they do Nothing for the economy but hurt it. This is the definition of madness.
Idiots we elected have sold our soul for another nation to benefit, and forevermore.
Just think about the 'old money' people (individuals with funding comparable to Disney) sitting & waiting to see behind the scenes in One Eleuthera partners. You Have No Idea!
