You can plainly see Fred Smith hit a touchy nerve, the comments above... in their vitriol and veiled racism and anti Foreigner rhetoric are pretty much endorsing his statements. People don't like to self examine we don't like to hear the worst about ourselves, but This is a subject that needs airing and analyzing because it IS holding us back as a people. Any Bahamian that really looks into their soul knows that a bit of what Fred Smith said is true. We smile and welcome the foreigner, we placate and take care of them, we even become real good friends with some them. But behind their backs (friends and all) we talk different about them to Our people. (Right or Wrong?) And yes, maybe because of our history where we were encouraged to have the Black Crab mentality (that only hurts us and not the boss-dem) and from the first Conquerors and Pirates, and the Wreckers and the Rum Runners and the Drug Runners the blood of all those "Takers" who took advantage of 'foreigners' yes we are a nation built on 'getting what we can' from anyone different to us. Its also wonderful mix of amazing pioneers, strongest and best of Africa, hotpot of explorers and dreamers from many nations, it is a country of potcakes and yes some good men like Fred Smith.
Own it, change it, do something positive, but don't hate it when you hear something that makes you react in anger...look into yourself and ask, "Is there some truth here I can learn and grow from, to make my life and my country better?"
Only noise leading up to the elections, take every statement from PLP gov. with a pinch of salt. South Ocean is a ruin it all needs demolishing no sensible foreign investor will go near it, as every investor that has touched it became bankrupt.
The house at Gold Blossom is one of the last remaining examples of a colonial architecture and they want to tear it down or let it become derelict? More shortsightedness. Look what happened to the Nuttalls old house (That The Govenment Purchased?!) on Goodman's Bay it's a ruin now and this was intentional. They want to get rid of all private homes on the eastern end of Goodman's bay .
Ocean Cay will do nothing to benefit bahamian employment or revenue to the nations treasury.
All wind and hot air from politicians that are full of it.
One insult after another. This country has the ability to be the best little nation on the planet, but obviously not with any of the thieving bozos that have been given the privilege to f*^k it up over the last few years. Need a brand new government with brand new MP's and we need it NOW.
Also Keep an eye on Shane Gibson with all this wag the dog he's going under the radar without any accountability regarding the disbursement of hurricane funds.
This man (if you can call him that as he is so f#*1ing intimidated by women) is a bloody embarrassment to the human race. In any other country he would be the village idiot Without A Doubt!!!.
This is insane :(
No Loretta do NOT do this!!! wtf ????????????????????????????
no hope for the bahamas with this kind of backward "Expletive" thinking!
PLP are still debating constituency borders, so people don't even know who they will be voting for. PLP need to have a convention. The Bahamian people are scared to register, they don't want to be on jury duty or have a record of any sort as 'trying to keep Govenment in the dark' (yep this is the bullshit we hear).
So this paranoid nation afraid of victimisation is so dumbed down and browbeaten they just want to dance in the street to the beat of a someone else's carnival drum. Whilst indirectly enabling this blatant government corruption to keep them downtrodden and 'in their place'.
Paranoia and Mental Slavery is alive and well here.
You may say they are lazy cowards but really there's no one worth voting for right now.
So many reasons and people to blame starting with- Government not paying their own power bills for decades. Customers not paying power bills. Not upgrading and maintaining equipment. Cronies getting contracts and doing nothing. Not investing in renewables etc. but mainly it's the inept Govenment getting the wrong generators, not training workers and making bad choices that benefit themselves their cronies and shaft the rest of us.
He is the Deputy Prime Minister for god's sake!? What example / message is he and the AG sending to the people by not pursuing this in court? All we can do is speculate- Brave is scared, afraid of the fall out so he has something to hide, afraid of the criminals, he can’t be bothered, they have something ‘on him’? It’s all not good. When a victim of a crime doesn’t prosecute it’s like they are allowing the criminals to go and commit more crimes on the rest of us. In this case the victim of the crime and the AG are just as guilty, they are creating more crime, encouraging people not to prosecute and endorsing street justice. This needs a better explanation, it needs investigating just as much as the criminals, particularly if the explanation is weak!

He hasn't even got the self awareness, humility or capacity to recognise this in himself and resign with dignity.
