We do have cash. If you read the article, they indicate how they are able to buy from wholesalers at discount prices rather than give vouchers. Clearly, having cash is not the issue.
I read this article, and understanding CORE and SPHERE commitments humanitarian organizations agree to operate by when giving assistance, it is clear that the National Food Programme is not operating by that. It is clear that they designed the program by assuming what people need as opposed to allowing people input into the development of the food parcels.
However, what is most distressing is that they do not realise is that cash vouchers have become the preferred method over distributing food parcels. Humanitarian assistance seeks to maintain the dignity of people and cash vouchers allows that to happen. It seeks to incorporate the feedback of beneficiaries into improving services as it goes along. Sadly, I think they want to stick to food parcels as it allows them to do more PR. You can't do PR with cash vouchers.
Amazing how Fred Mitchell was not saying people should push for early elections when he was part of the messed up Christie led government. We need to grow our democracy in our country. What people should call for is a fix election date, so that politicians can stop trying to play games with people.
This is why you don't get excited over Heads of Agreements. I would have thought though that the government would make sure he has the money to do this.
Why the hell did he come to Grand Bahama? We don't need him here to test any protocols. Our protocols are working fine. Sorry, but he needs to stay in New Providence and worry about the spread there.
We must always be careful with speculation. SO what if the man fixed a tax dispute and his brother is an MP. Could it be that he was able to do his job? It is sad that we would wish to speculate some nefarious actions, without the proof to do do. How sad that we also take the low road in thinking the negative of people, rather than thinking positive and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Are not people to be innocent until proven guilty. If anyone things he has done something corruptly, then they need to provide the proof or just shut up. No one should have their characters assassinated based on pure assumption.
*“Now I’ve not heard the minister say that teachers will receive a laptop or device for them to work from. And, if we say that we moving into the virtual or online learning, then the pens, pencils, paper and white boards are now obsolete. So if you are telling me that I am moving into the virtual sphere, then the expectation is that you will give me my tools and those tools are laptops, tablets or iPads for me to deliver this instruction and education that you are now saying is mandatory for me to deliver.”*
Amazing how she hears the Minister announce the date for school to open but she doesn't hear him also mention in the same speech that teachers will get laptops.

How is it 2 non nationals on separate occasions bring drugs into the country and gets less than 1 year? If a Bahamian does it they will spend eternity in jail? Something is wrong in our judiciary and needs to be fixed.
