It is very disturbing and troubling when I hear pastors say the churches can open. The church was never closed. The building was closed. Thus, my question is whether pastors are more concerned about the building and getting revenue than they are over the safety of the people who are actually the church?
Agree that we need to shop at home, yet how many retailers have prices that are comparable? If our retailers choose to not mark up their prices and seek to keep them competitive to foreign prices, more people would use their resources at home.
That is the challenge with our population. Unlike the Arab Spring, they use social media for nonsense rather than societal advancement. Guess it shows our D average. Maybe that is the push we need to do, improvement of our education system, in order to better our citizenry.
Today Mr ferguson said there were no discussion of salary increases. But note his statement in yesterday's Tribune
"Mr Ferguson said Mr Rolle informed the union leaders that all public sector promotions submitted and approved before the end of May - together with the associated pay increases - would be honoured. However, while all promotions submitted after May 31 will be processed, the BPSU chief said the government is planning to defer all salary increases until January 2021." (http://www.tribune.com/news/2020/may/27…)
Yesterday this man talk about the government saying they will defer salary increases until January 2021. Today he changes his talk and is a stranger to what he said one day earlier.
The Tribune need to stop just printing verbatim the words of these nuts and challenge them on their statements.
Will say to again. Union leaders are the greatest travesty to the development of this country. They are terrorists and the government needs to deal with them with a strong arm. They are no longer fighting in the spirit of what Randol Fawkes was doing for labour. Civil servants are fat cats with guaranteed pension. They do not know what the average worker often underemployed has to deal with. Ferguson would be happy the government was not gutting the civil service.
Not only that, no physical distancing going on there. Besides, are not people over 65 (couple intuit picture) the most vulnerable to the virus and should be inside?
Not they didn't do anything different. However, do you not think it is unethical to try promote another paper where you can't comment online on a newspaper site that allows you to comment?
I get fed up when educated people suddenly act ignorant and uneducated. Chester Cooper has to be totally insane to allow succumb to party politics and allow the PLP to use him to make a totally uneducated and ignorant speech. Just to try and make the implication that like other world government, we are not in this position because of Hurricane Dorian and even more covid19 is just plain fool. Carrels they are no where near competent and compassionate and no where near providing leadership.
And then to talk about the government borrowing when he was the one running to every talk show and saying the government should borrow. Hey, in these challenging times, the budget presented was very balanced. Maybe the opposition needs to learn to stop this business of opposing just for the sake of opposing.
It is clear that they had a prepared speech to read as soon as the budget communication was given, and clearly did not listen to what was in the budget.
It is clear you have on some serious PLP blinders and PLP more important to you than country. It is that close mindedness of party color over country that has messed us up. Maybe we deserve what we get since people so party centric. It is interesting though that you are commenting on this site. It sure was not the PLP who opened up the airwaves and media in our country to all free expression.
