The amount of bandits and terrorists we have in this country is amazing. And none get locked up. Hold the government hostage with strike threats to get your offering from the cookie jar and all of a sudden the gas dealers say everything is normal. And the Snake says they should be rewarded. WOW!
Here comes another spin now. Do these people talk to each other? Laroda was not reporting the actuarial, he was stating that NIB would be increased. The question was clearly directed to him about NIB increase.
Now come the spin from the OM that he was just reporting the actuarial and no NIB tax increase.
Then come the shady Gibson taking about the fund not use as slush fund and the best way to save the fund is to have incremental increase in contributions. Guess so more people like him could get a payoff.
Government needs to get out of the fund and stop borrowing from it. Period!
Sands is correct in his view that our governments have used NIB as a slush fund for years. This is causing the problem and needs to changed ASAP. But which government will have the fortitude to do the right thing?
The only way NIB can survive is that government must not be allowed to borrow form it anymore. If that does not change, then rate increases will not make any difference.
There is no such thing as statelessness. These so called "stateless" people can get citizenship in the country of their parents. However, too many foreign persons want the Bahamas to change their laws to accommodate them and grant them citizenship, especially after they come to The Bahamas illegally.
Rather than the government stop using NIB as a slush fund, they continue to pillage the Bahamians people by now increasing NIB taxes amount to pay. It is like putting water in an empty bucket and expecting it to fill up if they don't stop giving our money to government to build buildings they never get a return on.
Wonder now what Chester will say about this increase. Wonder if he will open his mouth and call this reckless, as he did when in opposition.

I was shocked when I learned of that as well. How can that be legal?
