Baha Mar had asked the other parties to enter binding arbitration well over a month ago, and CCA refused. It really would have been the quickest way forward.
Every second comment you write, Tal, mentions someones shirt colour, or a damn dock. Maybe it's not about colours of your damn shirt. Perhaps people here want a better Bahamas than our current broken and corrupt system. The current way it is, no matter who is in power must change. This place is getting worse by the minute and part of the problem is that you have people arguing over shirt colour instead of what the best way forward is. This isn't the NBA of NFL where you pick your team. This is our country and our lives, and if we simply pick a team in it, then we are all going to lose. You are helping no one by always going back to plp fnm. You are hurting us all by trying to sway the discussion to something that will not help. You have many great points, but in order to discuss them I may disagree. That does not mean we are on different teams. If you believe in that point, then stand by it, don't change the discussion to try and divide us. We are both on the same side of bettering the Bahamas.
This government is just acting like a jilted teenage lover. There is not a single professional or statesmen among the entire leadership structure. It's amateur hour on the world stage.
They aren't even spending money on things that we need. They are literally wasting the majority of what they spend. All of the government run corporations that are bleeding money, waste on BAMSI because they couldn't be bothered to do paperwork, money on Carnival that just didn't need to happen when we are in a deficit, flights all over the world for our politicians that don't give us any economic return, RBDF boats to catch one Dominican fishing boat a year. And while spending wildly on things that make no difference, our education system is entirely underfunded and is a national embarrassment, crime is through the roof yet the police are underfunded and equipped. If the government could find a way to get kickbacks and favorable contracts for 'friends' in educating people, then we would be the most educated nation in the world.
The spending needs to stop. It's not hard to see when the average Bahamian's own household finances are in such shambles. Look at how our leaders spend money our country doesn't have. They are setting an example that we will all follow to the poor house.
So the Gambian government had to pay Alimenta $11.2 million for nationalizing their peanut plant. So they were in the wrong. Now why do you hate them for running a successful business that dominated the peanut market? Why do you hate them for setting up shell companies so that their investments are protected? And according to this State memo, Sarkis is a Bahamian national. Then why are we not trying to support our own?
Does Paul Major have any economic or financial training what so ever?
*- whatever is spent directly there is some multi-plier effect that translates that into a GDP impact. It’s somewhere between 3 and 7 per cent as a multiplier effect. Whatever the foreign input is is multiplied by as much as seven times*
What?! 3-7% does not mean 3-7x. This is some basic math. This is aside form the fact that most tourism GDP calculations rely on a 1.4 or 1.5 multiplier of direct input. This man has no idea what he's talking about.
Is the Tribune so strapped for stories that they have to publish every comment that these idiots make? It's basically just a back and forth of poorly constructed insults from one person to another. 'What he said was unprofessional' - 'Well he should mind his own business' - 'He doesn't know what he's doing'. It's like a grade school playground fight.

Tal is just a troll who sees only yellow and red and does not care about bettering Bahamians. We have to stop feeding the troll.
