This is a joke of a government. Is he really trying to blackmail the former government into going along with the current governments corruption and stating it publicly?

If he knows where these 'bodies are buried' then why hasn't he let the police know, and why aren't people going to jail for corruption.

The government always has an excuse that the people before them did it. So what, the government before was corrupt and so is the current one. One does not excuse the other. We have to hold these politicians accountable. They are taking our money and wasting it, lining their pockets, lining their friends pockets, while so many are in need of social programs and better education. This is really a joke.

He's saying there has been a systematic reduction with 1 less murder, while rape and breaking and entering are both on the rise? They have also never gotten to the bottom of the misreported crime stats. What happened to all of those stabbed and shot people at the hospital that were never accounted for in the police statistics.

Crime is most certainly not being reduced.

Investigative journalism is a farce in the Bahamas. There are great stories that would expose all kinds of corruption but the papers here just want to report the surface level facts. Digging deeper would require to much effort.

This is a standard we are holding for the government. Doesn't matter which three letter party are running it. Just because the FNM was bad does not excuse the PLP from being bad. This isn't about FNM versus PLP, this is about bettering the Bahamas. Stop being petty, and have a look at the big picture. We need to do something to turn this country around. It doesn't matter who is in charge, as long as the Bahamas is becoming a better place, and right now it is definitely not. It's going downhill. We need to change that.

This is absolutely terrible advice. Susie Orman is personal finance expert with little to no understanding of macro-economics. Pension funds all over the world are failing at a catastrophic rate because mandatory pensions are unsustainable. This whole idea of hers that wealth will be pulled down in order to provide social services is crazy, where does she think the money to fund these pensions is going to come from? Not from the people who are barely making enough to live now.

This whole work week thing is just ridiculous. It's the amount you get paid over a 7 day period, not the amount you get paid each day times 7. It's not confusing. Why would you ever think that cause you went on vacation for a week you should be getting a daily pay for the weekend? Do you normally work the weekend? You get what you would normally get paid for work that happened within a week (7 days). So if you normally only work 3 days and get paid $300, then on your eek long holiday, you get $300, not $700. That would be crazy.

Has either of the previous governments shown that they can think on their feet? The only thing they have been good at is spending more money than we have. Waiting around for a 'perfect' replacement just means that nothing will ever change in this country.

Now begins the typical back and forth of which corrupt government was to blame. They both were!

We need to pass a Freedom of Information Act, and it needs to be done now. We have to start investigating where our tax dollars are going. We need to vote the corruption and ineptitude out of our government!

newcitizen says...

We could follow the money and see exactly where is went, but the government won't let us see how they are actually spending our money. Taking an extra $14 million on the first building went so well and without any question that they are now planning on taking the $14 million up front and seeing just how much they can raise that afterwards without anyone questioning them.

This is government corruption at it's finest.

Well if we all speak up then they're gong to have a problem. We can't just accept selective enforcement, it's up to us to change it!
