Has either of the previous governments shown that they can think on their feet? The only thing they have been good at is spending more money than we have. Waiting around for a 'perfect' replacement just means that nothing will ever change in this country.

Now begins the typical back and forth of which corrupt government was to blame. They both were!

We need to pass a Freedom of Information Act, and it needs to be done now. We have to start investigating where our tax dollars are going. We need to vote the corruption and ineptitude out of our government!

newcitizen says...

We could follow the money and see exactly where is went, but the government won't let us see how they are actually spending our money. Taking an extra $14 million on the first building went so well and without any question that they are now planning on taking the $14 million up front and seeing just how much they can raise that afterwards without anyone questioning them.

This is government corruption at it's finest.

Well if we all speak up then they're gong to have a problem. We can't just accept selective enforcement, it's up to us to change it!

Plus all those fines and tickets would be enough to replace VAT!

God doesn't choose the Prime Minister. Bahamian citizens do. Maybe thinking God has a say in it is why we are in such a mess with our governments.

You're right, this is not an international issue. Shutting down the airport and cruise port will do nothing. We need run politicians who do not promote freedom of information and transparent financials out of the government. We need to make sure they do not win the next election. Not just their party, but the actual politicians. There needs to be accountability, that if they don't do their job, they will not have one. We need to make our fellow Bahamians aware of how their money is being wasted.

newcitizen says...

We shouldn't give them the time of day. They don't have any interest in the well-being of the Bahamian people. They just want to keep the collection tray full.

newcitizen says...

Is this government serious? Was there an open and transparent bidding process for this contract? Seems like they just gave it to the company that would give the most kickbacks. This points directly to outright corruption.

We have to demand accountability from our elected representatives. They are taking this country for all it's worth and with no care for the people. What a sad state of affairs when dealings like this go on and no ones cares or questions it. It's time we do something about it.

This clearly shows that somebody is just putting money in their pockets. Typical of our governments.
