the greatest shortcoming of the human race is that they do not understand percentages.

but honestly, Supervalue, do not start upping all the prices before August 1st.

4.5 % is a hell of an increase, about two years worth of infalation right there.

the receipt shown on a local bombastic website read:

74.49, the total bill being 80.08, the vat, being the differene should be 5.57 or 7.5 percent.

the receipt listed vat as 8.94, or 12%.

the greatest shortcoming of humanity is that they do not understand percentages.

the rent in abaco will be 900 or more regardless of who you are. the products and services are expensive regardless of who you are.

the salaries are lower in abaco too, compared to similar jobs in nassau.

in reality, even bahamians who live in the shanty town have to stay there because, to afford 1000 dollars a month it takes 3 working adults, and they will bring with them 6 children and gramma to live in a 2 bedroom apartment. the landlord then evicts them.

them spies can easily be bribed by a pack of 5lbs steak, 3 lbs shrimp and one dozen bottles of clothes softener.

the govt would not allow this pricing method tho.

not so fast.

the VAT exempt items will be assessed at 12% during the month of July, so if one buys enough of those for one month, they are saving 4.5%, even if they put on a credit card, there is still savings.

But people were really shopping for things that are not vat-exempt, as the merchant will shift their costs to those.

I bought some items with the following conditions: not vat exempt, was on sale, is non perishable.

and i got enough tune for the cat for one month.

That is like those banks who foreclose to victimize the client who was bringing the money to pay on Friday the 30th at 4:25 pm and had a flat tire.

Not his fault, the arrears would have been paid if he had not had that flat time 5 minutes before closing time.
