> Many of these unstable patients require recurrent hospitalisation because of noncompliance with medication, diet and sometimes lack primary healthcare follow up, in many cases resulting in readmission just weeks after being discharged.”

And how is it that "Compliance" can be improved?
Often the diet advice is absurd. Once I saw a brochure suggesting diabetics eat peas and rice for breakfast. They tell them not to eat sugar, but pump them with carbohydrates otherwise . Not to mention the portion size for Bahamians is huge.

I once opposed a dietician in a Zoom session who was telling diabetics to eat cassava instead of rice. Same difference. The moderator did not ask my question.

I had to change doctors to get blood pressure medication because they prefer to prescribe hours of exercise to those who cannot exercise, and tell not to eat salt. Bush medicine is better care than that.

But no, wait till the blood pressure damages me, before giving me a cheap pill.

Give it a year or so and someone will be accused of selling eggs in the black market instead of selling it to the govt.

I commented previously without reading the whole article. The income tax was a red herring.

> “We cannot shy away from the fact that the cost of insurance is a part of the cost of home ownership

There we go again, they tlked about before making hurricane insurance mandatory. It is really not affordable man. Plus, let's not forget the bamsi fire that had no insurance.

> and we have to think about in the future how do we right size the homes that we construct and occupy

In Germany, they are preparing laws to allow govt to repossess homes if they are not insulated to current standards in a couple of years. I suppose they will fill the respossed homes with illegal migrants.

This is downright scary.

Not to worry. the doctors and lawyers mps do not even make their financial disclosure. they will not tax themselves.

I fear tho, they are going after the little people with a payroll tax. Lawyers are not on payroll. Ridiculous.

Years ago I paid BTC 3 months in advance since I was going to travel . They then cut me off "by mistake". Because the idiots do not understand that a minus is a credit balance .

Then they brought me "fiber to the home." It only worked for a week and they take 2 weeks to come and fix it.

I got their modem, sat in the office for several hours while their computer system was down. Took a picture of the guy holding my modem .

And let go of their landline.

Idiots .

The problem is then just recycled. There was a company that did that a few years from the time of PGC, to refinance for the owners. I have noticed that the properties are distressed again and repossession notices from this compmany appear occasionaly in the news paper again.

A mortgage is given on the current financial situation of the borrower, who often is too optimistic and takes the maximum amount he can borrow. The things can change with loss of jobs, divorce, illness and there goes the mortgage.

I also do not think the banks do a good enough job of explaining the addtional costs to the mortgage such as insurance, property tax and HOA fees. If they did, the borrowers might forgo new appliances and furtinutre added to the mortage and take the hand me down from their families till they get a little cushion.

there must be a lot of people suffering out there now that the credit bureau prevents them from borrowing 3 or 4 times what their salary can deduct and alternating the payments, even if at a stiff penalty.

they could kill a law abiding driver on the highway too.

occasionaly tho, the tourists do die by crashing into lamp poles in the town, or like in the case above.

while traveliing to southeast asia, I would not rent a tuk tuk and go around driving myself.
