Leave. But where? Since the cough, EU, US, Canadakistan, Australia even would be terrible places to go. You would not afford rent there either. Or food. Only Africa left.
A marginal decrease in customs duty will not significantly reduce the local price of any food item. The price the merchant pays abroad, plus the overseas shipping, plus the local brokerage and delivery keep going up and are ultimately charged to you and me.
The largest impact would be to make bread basket items vat free, then increasing the overall vat on anything else.
What can we do to lower our costs without the govt?
1. we are lucky to have price control. use the list to cook your own food based on items on this list.
2. give up sweet drinks such as juices and sodas as they have high fructose corn syrup and cause fatty liver, same with jams. Make your own iced tea with real sugar.
3. buy some ceramic dishes which are always on sale on christmas and mothers day and stop buying paper products
4. give up potato chips and dry cereal, very unhealthy and extremely expensive. just go cold turkey.
5. learn to mend or sew your own clothes from you tube.
this is the best we can do,as the duty on baking powder was lowered to 5% but no one eats baking powder out of a jar.
all because they elected to purchase a software that only pays bimonthly. it will cost more as they will hire more people to do payroll, but individuals will not get extra money.
it is not biweekly. it is bi monthly.
suppose you make 20000 per year.
Monthly you get paid 20000/12 = 1666.67 on the 30th of each month. bimonthly you get paid 20000/24 =1666.67/2=833.33 on the 15th and 30th of each month.
I stopped buying fruit at super value. I stopped buying fruit, it is mostly sugar anyway. The prices of fast food are significantly higher in the US too. Last time I went to Burger King was Nov 2019. I had a large sandwich, fries and drink for 5.50.
They keep inflation down by removing items that make it go up to get a lower index.
I bought a small kitchen appliance on sale. The courier offered to reimburse, but I said I wanted the item as I paid sale price. They found it after several weeks. I got it , they waived fees, everyone happy.
I doubt very much they would fund the migrants. They have spent billions, billions housing and feeding these migrants, and their tax payers are fed up. The migrants are even taking food assistance from their vulnerable citizens and causing food shortages. The migrants are controlled by cartels, and, if rejected by their own countries, and ineluble for asylum, are likely criminals and gang members.
Turkey accepted funds from the European Union to take in migrants and now are changing their citizenship and residency laws. They deeply regret it.
