This Royal Carribean executive was qouted as stating on a radio program that This Grand lucayan sale deal is tied to the Paradise Island crown land lease grant dispute that Mr Toby Smith is involved in.with the government. Its going to be either they get all the land they want on paradise island by the light house or no-deal. The Governmnt has to thread lightly on this one because its all or nothing.
Looks like the direlic vehicles removal around nassau has fallen in the hands of the area MP to arrange the disposal. .The Min for South beach and the Min of education has posted a video showing where he has arrange the removal of 800 vehicles up to may 29th. in his area.......maybe the others should follow his lead.
The Bahamas is on the border of a fiscal cliff with the depth to GDP at 84% at the end of the 2021-2022 fiscal year. All this depth is concerning because we have used up all the head room we have with all the borrowing. Having to pay over $500m every year to service this depth is disturbing because we are situated in hurricaine alley and this country is almost guranteed to be affected every year by some level of storm. Hopefully we never see the likes of dorian again in our lifetime. The end of the Pandemic is any ones guess because the coivid-19 virus continues to confound the medical professionsl world wide. This country has yet to state definitively if one of the known variants is causing this third wave. Any investment short of the size of Bahamar or Atlantis impact on the economy in another sector would be greatly neaded to turn this ship of state around to head in another direction.economically but another sector would be preferred. This budget is design to coast the Bahamas along like a car traveling down a deserted road trying to reach the next gas station. This FNM government is showing that it has a steady hand with this budget by not inflicting any additional financial pain on the small man The PLP has no alternative plan despite all their talk and we would have all been further up the proverbial creek if they had been in power. Their talk is to take us all for fools to get back at the cookie jar because the pandemic has drained the accounts of their croonies.
If the US dollar is in a crunch due to the slow down tourist arrivals, Just lift the weaver and pay the interest on the B Dollar component of the outstanding bonds. That would not cause the central bank no stress, the banks are said to be flushed with Bahamian dollars.
I dont think there is any Government agency. corporation, department or state owned enterprise that is Solvent right now. Masive debts is the order of the day in all of them.
No wonder the Cancer rates in this country keeps rising with all the preservatives, chemicals, additives and foreign substances being added to al the foreign food thats imported. Some products have labels clearly marked "For export only". Our politicians only talk diversification to get elected. The terminated employees of Atlantis should be creative find a way to start small businesses with the skills learned while employed.
She is in Suriname getting her two generators replaced because the PLP did not plan for shore power to be installed at the Coral Habour base thus resulting in her running her generators 24/7 from the day she arrived in the Bahamas a few years ago. A contract was reciently signed to installed shore power by the FNM government.. She went to Suriname after transporting supplies from Jamaica to St Vincient to help in the after math of the volcano eruption......Let us hope she is repaired in time for the Hurricane season.
.**Repost From Bogart.**..........The conversation with the UN officials and the Bahamas should begin with a memorial service in the public Graveyard where there was the mass burial of the 55 unindentified persons died in the Hurricane and with great dignity buried by the Bahamas govt. The UN officials should be seated in the front seats and the service include recounts of Govt and brave persons with assistance of cadaver trained dogs recovering bodies in various of decomposition, trapped from under the acres of shantytown timbered rubble flattened like a pancake.
Added to retelling at the Memorial Service in cemetary by local Pastors of hurricane destroyed shanty town occupants survivors, dere must also be in telling of the sad demise of 55 unindentified persons, must also include the some 36 persons and more unknown numbers of human souls who seems to have just swept away into sea and bodies still remain missing. May the souls who have passed away in the Hurricane shantytown destruction rest in peace.
