With the trade wars escalating between The US and China and the US and her allies.The Gov can provide Tax incentives to chineese companies that would have to be much lower than the tariff rates Trump is now proposing......China has a Facebook equivalent company called Renyen.con, A Whats App equivalent called WeChat,...A Amazon Equvilent called Alibaba.... India also has equivalent software companies to Facebook, WahtsApp and Amazon and many others.The Government can establish trade missions and send multi lingual Tech savy Bahamians to seek out these companies to establish backup locations in Freeport. If a few established companies come the the startups will follow.but location, Tax exemptions, and reasons why freeport would be a great location and not other carribean and south american countries would all have to sold in a package. If China is serious challenging the US in this hemisphere we can sell the Bahamas as the singapore of the region. We have to invite serious executives like Jack Ma the CEO of Alibaba to come to the Bahamas and attend these conferences and to a lesser extent the lower level execs and not the same old speakers, some of whom seams to have no experience in the tech world. Silicone Valley was founded because of the innovation and ingeneuity of free thinkers to make what seams impossible to become possible. Venture capatalist funded the dreams of the Innovators and technical minds made dreams a reality and the investors and software developers rich.. These are the types of people who we should be inviting to Freeport if we are serious about a Silicone Valley semblance clone because thats all the infastructure there can accomodate.

@Bogart tt's called a canteen most military base's have a store that members who work and live on can easily purchase supplies. Thats why the Base is called HMBS. The S is for ship. Service men who live and work under military rules cannot just leave at any time to go to shop,The would face charges. Sometimes they are restricted to Base for days and weeks.....Thus the need for a Canteen.

This is a Band Aid solution used after every murder spree. Create a Boot camp in Andros and make it mandatory for every male Bahamian child to serve three years minimum when they leave high school regardless of what part of society they come from. Include boys for the rich areas and the inner city areas. Pay them a stipen and teach them all the Discipline and values they need to develope to function in society and move the Fox Hill prision and teach the inmates the same. There are enough retired Defence force and police force officers who would gladly give their time for such a plan. .This plan that some would call national service and is the one plan Sir L.O Pindling regreted not doing as he was quoted in one of his final interviews

This culture you stated will only change if the political will to do makes it happen. Successive governments have perpetuated this and allowed it to mushroom out of control for votes.. I say change the retirement age to 60 and force those over 60 to go home and make way for the vibrant young people. This government is the best chance we have as a country to make the necessary changes. .
