I feel your pain, even if I'm not Bahamian. I was blackmailed by Immigration to pay 30.000 USD to obtain "another status" in the Bahamas, they said the former one cannot be issued. I asked why? Show me some legal doc why not. They said into MY face and into the face of my lawyer:
there are new laws that are not written anywhere and your former status cannot be renewed.
i have a recording of this conversation, they are insane... saying into the face of a LAWYER that there are laws not written anywhere... so what Bahamas is an ancient cove... or what?
The cost of living "crisis" is self made - outrageous fees for everything but not willing to render any service at the same cost? NOPE. you can't have salaries and life like in the US but then work 1/3 of the time - does NOT work.
Simple example: why is the annual road "tax" for a sedan like 200 bucks but the roads are worse than in lets say Kazakhstan? Don't get me wrong, roads are NOT bad in Kazakhstan but the annual tax is like $90 US....

NO hope.... just do the math:
the new "project" is sold at about the same amount that the government paid to the Chinese after Dorian PLUS their operational expenses since 2020....
so in other words: the Grand Lucayan Hotel is completely worthless. The purpose of the "new" deal is just to get rid of it and the operational cost.
