If the MOE is not able to attend to the needs of the students in their care then it needs to be examined by an outside entity and given the tools for greater efficiency. However to say that our teachers are not public servants is to do them an injustice, treat them disrespectfully and seems also to remove them and the MOE from accountability.
If you claim an excellent memory, you must therefore be studiously ignoring the facts of Dr Sand’s’ admonitions, not all cases of the past infections are known by the patient/caregiver to have been Dengue, ie. the reason for the lab tests.
More importantly how can one blithely assume that any of those unknowns must stem from the last endemic in 2011?
Your reference of Covid in the Bahamas reminds us that egoists like yourself spreading disinformation caused the deaths and/or reduced the quality of life for many Bahamians.
Your assumption that all operators “are not involved in illegal activity” is not supported by the facts, ie. the experience of Bahamians and tourists.
And isn’t a bully one who preys on the weak, the naive, and yet you use this term to describe those who regularly act outside the law with impunity? For we all know that the law is one thing in the Bahamas, but acting upon it? There’s the rub.
Corruption like all else breeds in favourable environments. The Washington Post had an apt quote about the highly inaccurate reassurance we always get from officials, and politicians etc., “it’s not just about a few bad apples. It’s about a diseased tree”
By fashioning your scorn without the key phrase included in the above article (and two times no less!) you’ve exposed yourself as the worst kind of purveyor of disinformation, ie. those who cause direct harm to the lives of our children.
“Dengvaxia is approved for use in individuals aged 6 through 16 years of age, with laboratory-confirmed previous dengue infection and living in endemic regions.”
The government needs to be transparent about their fogging methods ie. what insecticide is used, how many employees, how many trucks and helicopters are being utilized, and not how many they have ‘on the books’.
What is their schedule for all the family islands?
Give us the facts, for isn’t that the responsibility of any claiming good/responsible governance??
So Davis would have people of the Bahamas believe that $4M will cover the cost of a ‘hurricane-proof’ structure to house 250 folks?? And he’s telling this to the very folks who experienced Dorian and/or equally powerful storms, who can see the ongoing shoddy construction? Does a La La Land exist somewhere in Nassau?? Someone should force him and his compatriots to spend the next 185+mph hurricane in this shelter he deems hurricane proof!
For we know that single family residences that have survived 150+ mph winds (and are deemed to withstand 200 mph, at least for hours) cost upwards from $1M. We know ‘cause most of us cannot afford such costs!
Furthermore this shelter is on the ground…and homes so protected were all raised to withstand a high pounding surge, built w/reinforced concrete or pilings.
And lastly given the empty promises of transparency against corruption who in the Bahamas would be foolish enough to entrust their lives to this government?
Living as we do very much in the sphere of influence of the US, Canada and the UK etc. there is no excuse for our government officials, and public health institutions to be as badly informed and managed as is the case.
Twelve days ago Darville announced 3 cases of Dengue and that “safety measures” were being applied. On August 25th there were 16 cases and fogging would be applied as weather permitted. Today the cases are higher and we read that fogging is pending activation.
Twelve years ago one paper, of several, announced that fogging programs are a major tool for prevention. And that their testing showed such programs commencing at least 80+ days and optimally 90+ days ahead of the expected start of prevalence could reduce cases by as much as 40%. However fogging AFTER the start of peak prevalence reduced cases by 6.7%.
They will never reveal the sum because it would only prove that laws and/or subsequent fines (if assessed) do not apply to the ‘friends’ of this administration.
