Your point matters why??
Cuzzin Clarence’s bizness is that of a con man, he made $540 that day by false enterprise and gave the Bahamas another black eye.

These guys have just months ago shown how they handle work permits in repeat offenders in the “construction zone”.
And only the savvy get “automatic” work permits, ie. after they’ve greased all the right palms.

As for this government’s supposedly aggressive legislation serving Bahamians?
Show us where that’s funded and doing just that.
Case in point: programs for pre-school age children, when and with what money?
While they’re at it how about adequate funding and programs for K-13???

This is your job Davis,aren't you the PM ie. your service is to ensure good goverance to Bahamians?
Stop ducking your responsibilities!

Ms Bostwick-Dean, Ms Wilson et al are right to push for these basic human needs, the problem is the "they" reference constantly used by said Minister and his fellows, "They were very concerned about the emphasis in the previous draft bill," and "they want".
If "we're all on the same page" why not say so?

"We're very concerned about protective care for women on an island where violence against women (and girls) is endemic and epidemic.
We know that all the laws and provisions we enact are toothless unless we use their power as stated- to stop violence against women and their children.
And we shall do so"

That is the trouble with laws in the Bahamas, if no one uses their power to safeguard it's citizens...??

So let's get this straight: Randy is mad because BPL they didn't "establish an effective remediation plan" and yet he's filed suit against them for digging diesel recovery trenches and installing wells to monitor any spillage on his property because they didn't ask him first??

And he wants indeminfication from any action against him due to said spillage despite the fact that his knowledge of the environmental concerns ( he says he called DEPP) did not move him to:
a) Warn his workers and customers;
b) start remediation efforts himself to clean up and/or protect his land,not to mention said workers/customers and sue for costs etc;
c) bother to report the constant spillage he claims, ie. he waited 3 years to report a spill from 2019, and 7 months to report a spill from Jan 2022.
Further all he did was call, twice.

He is reponsible for the stewardship of his land, and he must ensure it is secure ie.a safe environment for his customers and workers.
He did not, and that is actionable.

.

Huh, two or three gallons?
There is no “robust environmental monitoring” in the Bahamas by anyone or any company because that would imply a robust response (from any governmental department really), whose job it is to protect this country and it’s citizens.

If they had any plan or it’s intention they’d be crowing over it.
Any more talk of a ‘plan’ for Pinewood etc. will only come near election time and it still won’t be a plan. Sigh.

Well then why doesn’t ole Freddie stand up by doing his job?
The US report on trafficking highlighted the fact that since Davis was elected, efforts to stem this scourge haven’t been successful.
Among other things they reported evidence that revealed Immigration officials weren’t interested in doing their job; indeed they’re making money to look the other way when employers bring in ‘lawfully’ recruited (possibly trafficked) workers, some w/o permits.
Furthermore they refuse to help them upon complaints of abuse and harassment.

Under this and previous PLP administrations the rule of law has never been a guiding principle, but rather the rule of power over the law.
And only when voters discern this pattern of corruption will the Bahamas be unshackled.
