If the bookings are “through the roof” with the current mandates, then where is the urgency to abandon safety guidelines? And must it also be pointed out that the Bahamas hasn’t as yet followed the “wise decisions” of UK and/or Germany, for example none of the cases and deaths diagnosed from the rapid antigen tests (the same distributed by the gov’t) are reported publicly. That makes the infection rates, the rate of transmission, the number of cases and the deaths from Covid in the Bahamas is unknown. Furthermore why is Robert Sands continuing to steer gov’t health policy?
I hope folks like the former PM continue to call out the blatant misuse of Crown lands and the ongoing corruption by this or any administration. All those people who’ve been waiting for these homes have had their hopes dashed and now must to go to the end of the line. The question must be asked who is served, who is profiting by canceling Prospect Ridge, the hard fought legal victory over the BHMA with the Grand Lucayan and start all over again? Certainly not the Bahamian people.
On 12/23/22 the PM broadcast the news he had gone into isolation the previous evening, he was very precise- 1130PM. "..he would remain in isolation because it was the “responsible” thing to do." "For his part..Darville said: 'A quick update on the Prime Minister. Yesterday, he was seen by a medical practitioner. He’s in good health and following the quarantine rules as well outlined by the Ministry of Health and I would like the Bahamian people to know that his family members and his loved ones are doing well in isolation and quarantine at various places.'" So because this MD didn't "order" the PM of the Bahamas to isolate, Davis believes he's in the clear? Like many dishonourable lawyers and politicians who count on the fact that we do not live bound by the strictures of the courtroom, Mr Davis is eschewing that personal responsibility of his office he so glibly spoke of 2 days before Christmas. And D&D should get their story straight, if Davis was "en-route" to quarantine, that would have been the night of 12/22 and not the evening of Mr Griffin's murder the following evening.
What good is transparency when one's motives are so skewed? If OB-wan is studiously ignoring the very figures he demands in order to endorse his power grab of a once successful venture motivated by altruism into the hands of his bloated bureaucracy? Credible? Just ask those who didnt go hungry last year. "Michael Pintard, the Opposition’s leader, said past Cabinet papers set-out the mandate and structure of the COVID food assistance initiative, together with costs and the participants involved. In addition, the Government would have access to the permanent secretary and accounting officer at the Ministry of Social Services, who could provide details on the flow of funds."
Mr Culmer is exactly correct, and it is disgraceful that Minister Monroe would disclose facts given to him in strict confidence concerning Seaman Adderly health records.
Secure vaccines for children! This gov't cannot say they are committed to education without vigorous testing and vaccinations. There are simply no excuses for this delay to protect the children of the Bahamas-and their teachers.
And if a negative RAT is good enough to enter this country, why continue with the farce of refusing to record positive diagnosis from the same means? There is only one conclusion, to keep the true number of cases from the public and inexplicably the healthcare workers fighting this pandemic.
There are far too many incidents such as this with fatal and/or egregious consequences. Why did the officer draw his service firearm in the first place? Is that the normal approach to a man in a "suspicious" car at 4am? Why hasn't his family at least been able to view the recording? Aren't body cams usually employed to protect police and the public they serve? So far the RBPF haven't fulfilled their oath of office, and it appears their idea of a 'co-operative community' builds on fear rather than trust.
Covid will never "be done" in a country in which 62% of the population has refused vaccination and are literally walking round as human petri dishes cooking up the next variant. Sure Omicron seems less virulent- to the vaccinated, but to those with conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease? Think again.
