Didn't know about this until I went to pick up my daughter from last week's first week of classes. A massive inconvenience as it also increases traffic on Poinciana Drive. Hope they also do something about the Portia Smith Building where student services was located. If she were my relative I'd would ask her name to be removed ; the building looks disgraceful! Lots of plans for building, but any plans for parking? Less expensive landscaping would be one way to go. Reduce the size of the grassy area area near the new library and fountain so people can actually park.
Read Brent Stubbs new column and then this article. Wonderful that the Canadian teams are coming here to use the facilities but ridiculous, once again, that Bahamians now have no place to train for upcoming events. Who comes up with these ideas? Can't some intelligent arrangement be made for Bahamians to continue their training as well? Weren't these facilities built for Bahamians to use?
What happened to that big announcement recently that no government official was to be interviewed anywhere about anything, and that all comments would come through BIS (Bahamas Information Services)? Don't want to hear his comments about Junkanoo or anything anyway! SMT.
Hmmmm. Maybe he called it 'boring' because, like you say, he's planning to sell this off to the Chinese too. Remember Junkanoo 2013 when they came out as Chinese? That was just the beginning! I believe Junkanoo 2015/16 will unleash a large Asian presence on Bay & Shirley Street with not many 'Bahamian faces' at all.
