Call it what it is ...... Davis New Day voodoo economics.
The New Day PLP spin doctors are throwing the figures in the air and hoping that whatever falls will sound good to win in 2026.
But anyone with a tiny bit of common sense can see that this country is on a financial slippery slope with the Gussiemae government, thirty SOEs, NIB, and public service pensions racking up billions of dollars of unaccounted debt that can be conveniently hidden in a pretty book every May/June at the Budget freakshow.
We don't need that dope bill to ever happen in 242. It will be 10X worst than Christie's legalization of the Numbers Mafia clique in 2016.
Just look at what havoc has been wreaked on the poor underclass of our country for the obscene wealth provided to a few politically connected families.
Amen, but that is the outcome of stupid political promises and creating a voting block that has become dependent on political handouts from the MPs and their generals.
Time to get back to basics in this country. Things are truly out of whack
The Devil is in the details ....... the lawyers know where the details are.
How can the ordinary citizen trust the lawyers in this country to actually create and pass land reform bills that do not benefit their fraternity????
Let us hope that the few ethical and morally upright lawyers in the 242 system lobby the lawyers in Parliament to do it truly - in the best interests of The People.
Did the PM consult his legal peers, surveyors, realtors & community activists who have seen the land ownership quagmire that has existed before & after Independence?????
How confident can the ordinary Bahamian who owns some commonage, family/tenancy or generation property OR wants access to some Crown Land on any given Out Island be that these laws will not further deprive them of their land via the court, registration, taxes or political connections?????
How will the public be assured that the politicians will cover ALL bases to protect the citizens????
