Unemployment, underemployment and discouraged workers are never going to be accurately recorded or stated by a Third World government.
PLP & FNM governments think that the solution is to HIRE more civil servants to reduce unemployment. That is the exact opposite way to grow an economy. But it's their political policy to create more dependent supporters for votes at the polls.
That is why the country cannot develop any further and the socioeconomic situation is getting worse by the day.
We must look a little deeper at this, as the system of slavery & indentured labour after slavery placed poor blacks & whites at a serious disadvantage.
Unfortunately, the PLP elite have gobbled up the remainder of the Bahamian economy that was not controlled by the Bay Street Boys and pushed the poor masses (mostly blacks) even deeper into poverty.

Not a word about Rum Cay ....... Or is that depopulated like Long Cay??????
Brave can brag about Cat Island ........ It is OUR Treasury money that he is using to prop up this so-called growth.
Meanwhile, almost every other Family Island is in decline.
That is his New Day legacy.

The public service jobs above clerical level have sadly become a playground for PEPs.
Managerial and Executive jobs in the public service have for some time now been subject to political appointments. So, the BPSU boss is correct there.
What he doesn't know is the depth to which the financial wastage that these top level PEPs are been paid as "favours" to the political party.
That is why morale and productivity in the public service has declined so much over the past decades.

Nothing good for the country and its ppl can come out of this deal. Look at the two crooks in the photo op.
Question is: Why are the present FNM leaders so quiet??????
The only ones benefiting are the focol & pike investors and shareholders. The rest of the ppl are only going to be paying for the gravy train.

Local Government has always been a facade, from Day One in 1996.
The PLP never wanted it to happen. And HAI only gave out a token 30/70 system to make Out Island ppl feel likev they had some power.
But real local government like in the USA will never get given out by 242 politicians. Too much gravy to be shared out to the generals & FFLs.
