Persons who work "minimum wage" should not be full time working adults with family obligations who pay rent and utilities and care for 2-4 children.

Our practice of earning minimum wage is inconsistent with the concept of what minimum wage should be. In most First World countries, minimum wage only applies to young, entry level workers into the workforce (16-23 yr olds) who are high school & college workers.

That is the problem that we face in this country. Too many of our people are not properly educated or trained for the workforce, but need to earn "minimum wages" for all of their working life to care for a family in a very expensive society. It is unfortunate and unsustainable.

The good bishop needs to pay attention to his own priests who are increasingly becoming wayward and dysfunctional in their personal and clerical lives. He needs to listen to parishioners and not just the church elite.

He cannot try and fix the country while his own denomination is going to hell in a handbasket.

BAMSI is a research and training school .......... it is not a food producer.

BAIC should be the Govt agency that drives food production and processing.

The confusion of who should be doing what is the biggest problem in training farmers, cultivating crops, and processing food products at reasonable prices that can compete with the imports.

The Government is not serious about protecting our farmers or consumers. Tax revenue is more important than health to these politicians.

The importers and the Government have conspired to destroy Bahamian diet.
The local farmers are fighting an uphill struggle against the "foreign taste".
Bahamians are not willing to eat our locally produced foods anymore.
Corned beef is not a local food. It's a cheap imported junk product that we have come to identify as part of our culture. Just like cheap bologna, white sugar/grits/rice/flour, and yellow cheese etc.
We love canned foods that are full of preservatives, salt and other chemicals. Our choices are killing us.

The writer of this article is misrepresenting the diploma criteria. This is the key problem with the diploma ...... Misinformation and ignorance on how MOE continues to manipulate the criteria and moving the goal posts every year.

This fanciful cruise port project will sit on the site of the largest grouper spawning area in the Caribbean. Have the authorities considered that????

With no real investment in the international airport, road, communications, water, electricity, recreation, or healthcare facilities how will South Long Island be able to flourish beyond this tourist enclave????

Wonder how the Govt justified this outback site to these "developers"????

We await a town meeting and to hear from this "spokesman" ..........
