Most public officers have NO clue what their salaries should be and no one in authority (HRD) checks on them to explain to them their salary scales or increments based on their years on the job.
Empowerment is sorely lacking in the civil service.
Once our Government gave away those private islands to the cruise ship companies, the writing was on the wall for 242 tourism. That horse is out of the gate.
The government can only salvage departure tax fees as income from these cruise ships now. In the meantime, the cruise ships are making billions off our waters.

Minimum wage is not the answer.
The Government has to find new ways to LOWER the cost of living to ordinary Bahamians.
Also, Bahamians need to be more financially responsible as well. Most are too much in debt on consumer loans.
