Shows that Auditor General Dept was set up with NO teeth. Common practice with these Govt departments that are expected to hold the politicians to account.
Those lawyers in Parliament are smart enough to ensure that their "dirt" is covered from any prying eyes
Political unity???? Hogwash. If the Tribune editor ever believed that, what a shame.
What should be clear is that the mudslinging is mostly been carried on by the PLP as they gloat over the fact that they are back in Govt again ..... Hope they can stand the heat when their fairy tale empty promises backfire.
Stillwaters may have a point. If only 40% of Bahamians are willing to be vaccinated, that says much about the Bahamian public's view on vaccines in general.
The FNM/Minnis support for vaccination during the 2021 election may have led to the PLP victory. That is why the PLP must tread carefully on this vaccination issue. Brave chokes everytime he uses the word "vaccine".
**“I wonder if people were doing cash business and not invoicing, or if people had stopped buying locally to buy more from Amazon and things like that? People buying online would indicate an increase in Customs collections. There’s any number of issues that impact that.”**
Is Rick Lowe suggesting that there is a sizeable increase in the black/informal/underground economy of The Bahamas???????
If that is the case, it will only get worst as the inflation rate and cost of living for the lower and middle class Bahamians continue to rise as compared to wage increases. The Covid19 and supply chain whammy have tag teamed ordinary Bahamians to make household expenditure explode and disposable income to all but disappear.
Firstly, most 242 MPs only represent 5000 voters, compared to the average US, British or Canadian MP. Secondly, 242 MPs are only seen as access to personal privileges or perks based on PM appointments, whereas in the real Westminster system the MP is responsible for providing better legislation and not just manipulating the other two branches of Government. In 242, the other two branches are for the most part emasculated by politicians
Sooooo, if Brave doesn't want to raise VAT, why doesn't he change the tax structure??? Stop throwing blame and looking for red herrings. Just govern with sense
We all know that national revenue will not increase with a decrease in VAT, if we are to lower national debt. Who is Brave trying to fool????
Look at every Commonwealth country that has gone republic ..... How many are successful? How many went belly up? ..... Is changing the type of govt the answer?

This duplication of responsibility in order to satisfy every government MP with an extra 'stipend' is getting more ludicrous by the election cycle.
There is no need for all of these useless Boards and Authority's and Executive Chairmen ..... They are just token positions to assuage egos
