How many Bahamians will honestly sit and listen to Minnis & Davis???????? ........... Who can moderate that debate (series)??? .......... Which TV channels will get sponsors to carry that debate??? ................. Do we have impartial debate "experts" to provide commentary on who "won" the debate(s) and if there were any fact checking points that were evident to counter????

If those debate questions can be partially answered ......... then, go for it.

Democracy is messy ......... transparency calls for dirt becoming public and officials being fired.

The PLP paints a different picture of covering up dirt and crying crocodile tears when they are exposed

Minnis is willing to do the right thing .......... at least, a bit more than the PLP "circle the wagons" approach to protecting their own.

I am disappointed that the 242 media is not commending Minnis for trying to clean house (four Ministers), rather than cover up (like the PLP). Christie didnot fire ONE Minister, despite the blatant allegations of malfeasance and bad/bloated deals between 2012-2017.

sheeprunner12 says...

Tribanon ......... the PLP oozes corruption ......... don't go there

That is why the Gravy Train leader should stop trying to persuade Bahamians that he will be a viable alternative PM.

Fweddy is trying to get brownie points from the resignation of Lanisha Rolle, but he sat in a PLP Cabinet (with Davis) when ALL kinds of allegations of MOPW corruption were being covered up by the Speaker's stupid ruling ....... So, don't go there.

Bahamian working people have lost the ability to have a General Strike ..... No union leader has the ONIONS or credibility (like Randol Fawkes) to lead the common man against the bully politicians ........... The union bosses are in bed with the bully politicians ........ the small man is "screwed" in the 242

Ask the PLP ........... they started the building and gave out 3 different contracts ........... So, dont blame the FNM for cleaning up the PLP mess

sheeprunner12 says...

The former Minister of YS&C must tell The People what exactly happened in her Ministry ......... If she resigned as a Minister, it must be as a result of her portfolio and not her constituency ......... Sad situation if she was not going to be re-nominated .......... But, something about this is uneasy & smells like a rat

sheeprunner12 says...

dissolve the house ............ call the election ........... can only get worse for the fnm ........... should i suggest a date??? ...........april 13, 2021

consider this:

1. Can the Bahamian Government realistically collect the present taxes that are on the books?

2. What percentage of each major type of taxes was collected (on average) over the past TEN years?

3. If there was no VAT or customs duties, HOW would the Bahamian Government finance itself?

4. If VAT & customs duties negatively impact the poor Bahamian, what can the Government do to SHIFT the present tax burden onto the top 20% of the population?

Davis vs Minnis politicalspeak will not get rid of the reality that this country has serious national fiscal issues ............ dependency on FDI & tourism, consumer-based domestic investment, archaic civil service pension scheme, lack of real fiscal accounting of public funds, no real SWF ............... and the regressive tax system.

Sadly, both leaders are not really serious about changing any of that in the next election cycle.

Bahamians always look for excuses not to pay bills ......... now even the Tribune is giving them fuel.

But if the water wastage rate is 40-50%, then the Government needs to solve that first, as most of the water it is buying from the RO private companies is going into the ground, and not into homes.
