The PM/MOF gets up in Parliament during the Budget Debate and says "No New Taxes" ........... and his posse hollers and bangs on the desks.

Then, comes the truth a few days, weeks or months later when "fees" start to appear and you can't hear a pin drop from them.

This tax increase is wicked, and our politicians are doing it to us without telling us the truth about the REAL fiscal state of the country. We hear about millions of tourists, but life is getting HARDER for the ordinary Bahamian every day.

How many Bahamian boats (of any size) are up-to-date with their registration fees?

Whether it was $20 per year then ............ or $700 now.

If Bahamian cars & trucks don't get licensed/insured on land, what is the possibility of boats being registered on sea?????

What level of personal or household annual salary is he expecting a "middle class" person to be making???? ...................... He didn't say that.

How much disposable monthly income must a person have in order to qualify to pay a mortgage?? ........... He din't say that

Who is going to enforce this tax? There are 4000 police officers and the Traffic Division boss just said that 50% of road traffic is not licensed nor insured.

So, imagine enforcing this on sea traffic .........

Who is advising the PM/MOF with the increase of these fees? It must be a person who is a genuine landlubber.

The recreational boater is justified in feeling angry if he now has to pay $700, when he may use his 20ft boat only 4 or 5 times a year.

However, can a commercial concher or crawfisher truly say that he cannot pay more than $200 per year to license his boat that he can use to make 50K or 100K during a fishing season?
